I woke YB and took him to the loo successfully around 11pm last night. Around 3am he woke up and went to the loo himself. This morning, second dry bed

Smog could be sponge-bathed, starting with the back end first, with towelling wrapped around forepaws and middle, and then around back paws and middle, in a nice warm room, with a pair of baby sponges. Wettish sponge, then dry one, then towel dry. You can get gentle cat shampoo from a vet's, or use a drop of Seba-Med. i wouldn't immerse a kitten, but that's me.
I am actually tempted to immerse him because when I combed him the other day there was so much crud. He's still young enough that I should be able to scruff him and wash him. I wonder if OldBloke will see this and try the vet for cat shampoo rather than the pet shop?
because his tongue isn't barbed unless he's *really* peevedvinaigrettegirlAugust 29 2008, 10:52:22 UTC
All my knowledge actually comes from big brother, the cat whisperer, who had a cat who would go on walks with him like a dog, one would would fetch balls, and all of whom he mothers shamelessly. So his tack on Mucky mucky mucky Baaaabeeee Kiiiittty is to use the sponge technique because it's most like a mummy cat's tongue - without having to use his own tongue.
Your baby kitty probably didn't quite 'get' the washing thing from his mummy, so you can teach him yourself :-)
Yay, go YB! If he's waking up and taking himself to the loo you've crossed a major bridge already.
As for the kitteh, I'd be inclined to just dunk him in the kitchen sink with a bit of washing up liquid for shampoo, followed by lots of wrapped-up-in-a-towel cuddles until he's dry. If you can think of a lovely yummy treat to give him, so much the better: he may even come to *want* to be bathed, just for the treat. /dream on..

I'm glad you like Smog - I can't get over how tiny and skinny he is, after two large, solid cats.
