[ A video entry, he's sitting cross-legged in a wooden chair. His room is very modest, hardly furnished, and he's wearing a dim-coloured shirt with a pelt covering his shoulders instead of his usual safari vest, like some sort of tribal hunter, red marks painted on his cheeks. ]

Well... that was an interesting ride, but I admit I'm glad to see there ( Read more... )

It wasn't that bad. People just love complaining.

No, but you're probably one of the few.

A shame. Are you one of the few too?

I actually liked this port. We've had some that were far worse, actually.

Around holidays we end up in nice places. Last year at Halloween we ended up in Salem, and then at Christmas we ended up in a German village. The year before that was Christmas in New York.

That's funny, never thought the Admiral was the "holiday spirit" type.

[ He narrows his eyes. ]

That means, if anyone here was from New York - that New York, they'd have a chance to spend Christmas there. Correct?

Unfortunately not. I was living in New York before I came here and I couldn't find my flat. There were other people from different New Yorks that couldn't find their homes either.

And it's more like Christmas time than actual Christmas. Here at Christmas we write letters to Santa and then there's normally a party or ball or food of some sort.

But at least in snows on deck.

[ :\ All sparks of hope of visiting his island, even if it's temporarily, are pretty much gone then. He gives a sympathetic sigh. ]

I see. It must've been disappointing to find that out.

I'm not huge on the celebrations, but snow on deck? That sounds great.

[This time, with video! Jesse is wearing his typical ABQ street rat gear, a knit cap pulled low on his head. He's got a book on his lap, but now he's looking up from it, peering at the screen.]

...What are you wearing, yo?

Me, I wind up like this from the port. Lots of special things to find in those woods.

What the hell did you get turned into, an Indian? You look like you oughta be selling cigars.

I wind up with a crossbow, Indians don't get those. Maybe a hunter, of... dragons, or wolves, or [ Handwave motion ] whatever they hunt there. Didn't get to me like it did with a lot of the others.

I didn't take part, nor would I really have wanted to... although I must say that I'm rather entertained by what I've observed of it.

Yeah... fun to watch from afar.

And, presumably, somewhat infuriating to take part in.

Heh. Well, everyone seemed happy out of their minds while it lasted. Then, looking back... [ Grins ]

I don't think we've met before. Name's John Locke.
