iPods, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and Mountie Porn

Jan 21, 2005 11:29

This is the first time I've flown since I got my iPod (what is the deal with not being able to listen to your iPod during takeoff and landing?  If that's enough to bring a plane down, we're all in deep trouble).  I actually got it for Chanukah, over a month ago, but it took me a while to start figuring out when to use it.  It sat on my desk, all ( Read more... )

I thought you'd like it - though I must admit I had no idea who Steve Yzerman is!!

(And congrats on finishing - can't wait to read!!)

This is Steve Yzerman. So is this. The rest of the hockey world has Wayne Gretzky, but in Detroit, it's Stevie all the way.

Yeah, but buds are a pain, and iTunes doesn't have everything, but it does have quite a lot and so do my friends. But I love my iPod. I'm like you, I tend to sing along [loudly], and it took me a long long time to not do that automatically. I'll still often find myself humming on the metro or something like that, though.

When I'm in the elevator by myself I just go ahead and let myself sing - hopefully no one's recording it :-D

But yes, after listening to it nonstop on my long plane delays and flights, I can say definitively that I *love* my iPod (and I finally got some new earphones, yay!).

Just out of curiousity, which headphones did you pick out?

I ended up, after doing extensive research around the web, reading reviews etc., splurging and going for the Ultimate Ears 5c. They make them from a silicone mold of your ear, so they fit absolutely *perfectly*, and the fit means that you get great sound, and other sounds are really blocked out (also there's none of that annoying buzz to other people around you). So I listen on about half the volume I used to listen on the earbuds (I've been using the new ones for two days now). They're very expensive, but I figured it was better than buying one $50-$100 set after another and having them not fit (I've always had a tough time with in-the-ear earphones, because my ears are funny shaped and shallow). I figure it was an investment - I can also use them to listen to other things too, of course; I like to watch DVDs on planes, for example, and these are really good at blocking out all the external noise.

You can see more about them at http://www.ultimateears.com. I guess Ultimate Ears has made this type of earphone for a long time for ( ... )

Bodie ... Natalia ... both dark and beautiful, right?? *g* I don't know, something about that pose just made me think "I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and GAAYYYYY ..." :-D

And iPods - I thought I had no use for one, but now I find myself an addict.

Who says slash isn't RL? *g*

Every once in a while J and I will mention men/women we'd cross over for - and our lists are fairly similar. For example, given the chance he and I would both shag Paul Gross and Ingrid Bergman ('40's Ingrid, of course). :)

Mr. JaC, sadly, will not engage in this kind of speculation ... he insists that he's never even imagined anything like that. I suppose he *could* be telling the truth ...

(And on another note, I'd love to hear when/if you get a chance to watch some Pros, and what you think of it ...)

I saw some when doll was here, but to be honest I'm trying to avoid plunging into it, at least until I get my S&H saga done. :) But yeah, liked the Brit Special Forces vibe, the kind of energy they approach in TS with Jim, but (my prejudice) I feel the Brits do better.

Oh yes, by all means finish the SH saga first! (I'm waiting to read it until it's finished; I have a difficult time maintaining my focus when I read serially).

But I do have a feeling that you're going to like Pros (though I've been known to be wrong about that). I know exactly what you mean about the Special Forces vibe - but in this case the Brits get it right; it's in a different league entirely from TS and Jim. It's got that gritty, dangerous feel that I love. And it's just pretty high-quality television, especially for that kind of show - the Brits really do (or did?) have us beat in that regard; no Aaron Spelling cookie-cutters for them.

Plus, they're really hot! And wear *really* *tight* trousers! (Ah, where have the 70s gone .... ? *g*)
