I have been taking my ferrous sulphate.  My darling husband has been looking for a local source of heme iron or ferrous gluconate (sp?) without success so far.  He's searching tonight at GNC and the local drug stores.  If unsuccessful, we'll order on-line ( Read more... )

Good luck!

Amazon's a good place to order supplements etc. from. If you have a Costco nearby, that's a good place to try as well.

Currently found the ferrous gluconate. Will check with my doctor on Tueday about heme iron and doses before I order online.

Don't know where you found yours, but today I noticed my local Meijers carries their store brand ferrous gluconate.

I just checked CVS.com, and you can get ferrous gluconate there. (My "local" drugstore is CVS, and I've also bought stuff through the website.) I hope you can get a variety of iron that doesn't give you migraines.

You probably know this already, but if you're also taking a calcium supplement, don't take the iron and calcium at the same time.

I'm not sweet or patient when I'm sick, either, and I thoroughly sympathize with being sick and tired of being sick and tired.

My DH got me some of the ferrous gluconate and brought it to me this morning.

I am working very hard about being kind and patient with others, even as I am not very much patient with myself. They don't deserve to be miserable just because I am frustrated.

Aack! When I first started taking iron supplements because blood donations were making me borderline anemic, I used ferrous sulfate, which is just fine for me. Then Kroger stopped selling it. So I have to substitute ferrous gluconate, from, I think, CVS. Which comes in horse-pill size, which annoys me.

Sigh.

My ferrous gluconate is tiny and bright green. I have to take two at a time to equal the ferrous sulfate dose, though.

Well, mine are bright green at least.
