Extreme Cover Fail
A few months ago I read a series of books that have become some of my favorites. They're by Frances A. Miller and the first in the series is The Truth Trap. After telling a teacher friend about them (he loves Chris Crutcher and I thought he'd like these, too) I ordered him a used copy from Abebooks to read and put in his classroom library.

I'm going to start by saying, the best thing about these covers is how beautifully they match the insides of the series.
This is the aim of cover art, but sometimes in even our favorites, we have to settle for accurate, rather than beautiful. Or beautiful, but slightly misleading.

Art Books:
They may be a gimmick, but they give you a thrill--
uneven, crinkle-edged paper, or internal designs that show attention to detail...

It may be difficult to judge the effectiveness or accuracy of either of these covers, given that none of you (except me, of course) have actually read the book. The Perilous Gard
I not only love good covers, but I am very loyal to certain editions.
This means an irrational hang-up about other covers that do not so well represent the book.
My most dramatic set of love/hate covers is for The Perilous Gard. Wonderful book. You should read it.
