Today I am Henry Rollins

Last September I was getting my brother some books for his birthday and I saw a few Henry Rollins books, one of which was his journals. There was a whole chapter devoted to the entries he made on his birthday, and it was interesting to see a snapshot, year by year, of how someone's life changes and/or remains the same. It's also interesting to sit ( Read more... )

I've spent 2 of rollins birthdays with him. I have the tshirt from his 40th. for some reason he does a lot of spoken word in chicago on his b-day. If you like his books you should listen to his spoken word stuff. I'll burn an assload for you when I gte a comp that works, oh and when I'm not in texas.

I guess it really has been that long since we've hung out around this time that I completely forgot it was your birthday. I'm sorry bro... Sometime we just need to kick it like we used to, especially if you're going to go ahead with the Texas plan. Man... losing two close friends to Texas around the same time... that place is like a vacuum, hehehe (My roommate Mark is moving on the 14th, I don't think you read his LJ or anything though since you don't really know him) Anyway, I have Mondays and Tuesdays off every week, and since I work mornings I'm free typically every evening, so if you ever want to do anything, just let me know, you should have my phone number, and if not, email me! hidaman@kc.rr.com is the new email address now that I'm on Roadrunner. Take care man, and happy birthday!

Mmm.. I think you might get on yourself too much about where you should be and where you want to be in the future. Judging yourself too strictly. Honestly, almost everyone, if they look to their ideal future, gets depressed because it looks aeons away. And then you look to your past because you fucked up the shortcut to getting there, somehow. That's what's "better" about being older--hindisght tells you what's possible, even if you didn't jump at the opportunity when the situation was seemingly laid out for ya. ..you can almost always go back and do something if its that important for you, though ( ... )

Happy birthday... *hug*

I'd say something encouraging and inspirational, but it would sound trite. So... smile, and think of old friends who still care about you, and consider yourself hugged.

(Damn, that was trite too. Sorry.)
