We have heat and working plumbing!!

Plumber came.  Plumber diagnosed the problem.  Plumber couldn't fix it.  Recommended someone else who can, and who will be here at 9:30 am.

Propane company won't deliver while there is a tree on the tank.  So I borrowed a co-workers chainsaw, and will try to get it removed before they show up tomorrow.

When the power came back on we discovered:

1) That our main drain was clogged (after my wife took a shower and all the water drained into the basement rather than out of the house)

2) That we are out of propane for our furnace.  My fault.  I'd been postponing ordering more propane until after I got my holiday bonus.  I hadn't realized how critically ( Read more... )

Maddy came home from school today to discover that yes, indeed, we have power!

Still no power.  Over a foot of snow in the driveway, and our snowblower will only start if it's plugged in to electricity. Family all ready to kill each other ( Read more... )

Still no power. No kidding.

The town of Derry brought generators to the town pumping stations yesterday just so they could get water pressure to our half of town. So that's an improvement.

Still no power. Still no sign of line workers anywhere near us.

Ribbitsmum's surgical procedure went fine - though it turned out to be unnecessary. The giant kidney stone that they said could not pass on its own, passed.

Kidlet spent the wee hours of Saturday morning sick - bad enough she went to the ER. She was diagnosed with food poisoning - which was incorrect. Because food poisoning is not contagious. And I spend all Sunday night sick, and boy spent all last night sick. And ribbitsmum is probably about to be sick ( Read more... )
