Potato 2011.08 (p.114) Let's play sports!
JaPAniizu Hi who seem to play an active role in dancing and singing cheerfully this summer. This time we've asked them about sports they like, memories from sport festivals and sports they'd like to challenge one day!

Haniuda Amu:

In elementary school my parents told me “It's better if you try to experience everything”, so I got to know many different sports. Like tennis and swimming an rugby. Thanks to that I'm good at any sport now! My PE grades are pretty good as well, I always get around 9 points out of ten. I'm playing quiet an active part in my school's baseball and swimming tournaments... I think (laughs). But since I entered the soccer club now, I feel like “Soccer all the way!”. Making it compatible with Junior activities is hard, but since people around me support me, I really want to give my best with both. On days off it happens often that my family goes out, taking our two dogs along. Our dogs are both extremely cute~

Yo Marius:

Even though I like sports, there’s a lot I can’t play. I like both basketball and soccer, but because I’m bad at them I’m always loosing. That’s why I’m practising at school. And, it might not be sports, but I’m enjoying it the most when I’m dancing. Dancing is fun, and it is good for your body as well, right? Because your blood circulation gets better. But I have no friends who can dance. Lately I’ve joined Johnnys and started hip hop dancing, and I’m learning to play guitar and the piano, too. Because playing the guitar is difficult, I like the piano more. And I’m practising to tell lies as well. I think if you want to act, you need to be good at telling lies. When my family asks me “Haven’t you seen XX?”, I answer “I have no clue!”. But they always get angry at me for this (laughs).

Matsushima So:

Around once a year I go snowboarding with my family. At first I couldn't do it properly, but my big sis thought me and I mastered it immediately. Surely it's because the way she thought me was great (laughs). From now on I'd like to learn some jumping tricks. And, at school I played handball at first, but somehow I was interested in basketball as well, I'd like to try playing it, I thought. Then I like baseball as well. But my friends who are in the baseball club say that the practice is really hard, for me it's enough to play it as a fun game, I guess (laughs). Other than sports , a while ago we had a class called “Let's experience playing with toys of the past”, the hopping game (kenkenpa) I got to know there is really fun, I play it a lot.

Sato Shori:

Since middle school 1st grade I've always been in the track and field club, doing the 3000m long-distance race. Originally I started because I was frustrated because I couldn't get the fist place in the sport festival in elementary school. Now I got as far as to get the first place in tournaments of the district! Because I'll retire from track and field next month, the next sport I'd like to try is swimming. Soon we'll have swimming lessons in school as well, the truth is that I'm bad at swimming (laughs). And then, lately I go to sing karaoke with friends to practice singing. I'm practising Kanjani8 and Kinki Kids' songs. I want to become able to sing any song just like Domoto Tsuyoshi-kun! Plus in the “Pressure 10” game of YanYanJUMP, I'm worried because when it's my turn we'll definitely loose and have to do the punishment game. I'm always drinking that bitter tea~ (laughs).

Kuramoto Kaoru:

Sports I like are soccer and baseball. I'm playing baseball in the breaks at school, and soccer I'm learning since around elementary school 2nd grade. I personally think that I'm good at defending, but my coach makes me play forward. I want to learn basketball when I enter middle school. We've played in PE, it was interesting. Right, a while ago we used the vaulting horse in PE. When I put my hands on the box wrongly, I hit my elbow at the spot where it really hurts~!! I tumbled down and groaned. And then, recently I'm giving my best at the practice of a new song for “The Shonen Club”! In between lessons we're all hooked up on the manga “One Piece”! I have 2 older sisters, in my family everyone reads it. The characters I like best are Sanji and Usopp. Is there anyone who likes them as well?

Yamashita Kazunari:

I was doing swimming around elementary school 4th grade, but because the lessons were really strict, I got muscular pain on my whole body (laughs). Because it was just to painful I quit in the end. Recently I'm playing soccer with my friends in breaks on the school ground. I like the sensation when you kick the ball! And I like running quiet a lot as well. But for the recent sport festival I wasn't in school because I was down with a cold on the day when the rally runner were decided, so I couldn't run in the end... that was really frustrating! Next year I want to get revenge.

Takahashi Saneyasu:

In elementary school I was playing soccer, back then I was the keeper. Now I'm only doing cram school, so I'd like to start some sport. I'm interested in rugby. When I saw a match on TV it was really cool, I respect that! Entering high school I want to train my body, I want to become a man of strong build. At the sport festival I took part in group gymnastics. While I was looking the other way I got the timing wrong, being the only when who went too late was embarrassing (blushes). With Junior activities I'm busy with practices for the “The Shonen Club”, I get really happy when I can appear a lot. On days off I play with my dog.

Wakiyama Rei:

From when I was 3 years old until elementary school 6th grade I was doing swimming. And in summer I would often go surfing at a cousin's house. Lately I'm hooked up on “Shorin basket hide and seek” with friends (laughs). You are allowed to do anything to get the ball, kicking while jumping and causing a tumult, but that's what's really interesting! Playing like this and moving you're body is the most fun at the moment. On the contrary in PE lessons I might not get that excited. Other than sports my boom is shopping clothes. I buy things immediately when I think “This is nice” so I'm the type to regret it thinking “I have something similar already...” (laughs).

Okubo Lewis:

What I did in a club the whole time is soccer. But basically I like every other sport as well, like basketball or baseball or swimming. I have always been good in PE. On the vaulting horse I did around 8 jumps/turns, adding a rotation technique in the middle (laughs). It's just long distance races that I don't like that much. I hate feeling worn out in the end, having my breath go like haa haa. What I want to try from now on is surfing or snowboarding. The reason is... because it's somehow cool (laughs). Lately I'm hooked up on an application that makes negatives of pictures. It is extremely funny!

Kishi Yuta:

I often watched an Arashi TV show and thought I'd like to enter that world as well, so I auditioned in 2009. I was really nervous when I had my first concert, but it was really fun~! In the future I'm aiming to be a person that can do singing, dancing and talking like Ohno (Satoshi)-kun, who I admire. For sports I've been playing baseball from elementary school 4th grade until middle school 2nd grade. I'd love to take part in Johnnys baseball tournament sometime.
Kishi Yuta. Born 29.09.1995. Blood type A. From Saitama Prefecture. Special skill: Sleeping. Hobby: Playing. Favourite colour: A darkish pink. Favourite phrase: Thanks. Instrument he can play: The guitar a little. Favourite type of girl: A bright girl.

Nakamura Reia:

I'm good at skateboarding which I do since 3rd grade. At the beginning it was a bit difficult, but giving my best with practising I got better and better, I even participated in tournaments. Lately I'm not skating that much, but I'm not getting worse (laughs). What I want to try from now on is baseball. Because when I'm playing catch ball with friends, it seems to be funnier when one is good at it. On the contrary what I'm not that good at are long distant races. But a while ago at the sport festival I became the runner for the 1500 meter race somehow. That's why I practised desperately, and in the beginning it always took me around 6 and a bit minutes, but in the real race I run for around 5 minutes!

Jinguji Yuta:

I've always been doing Karate! I got the second place in the national middle school tournament!! I have confidence in my Karate skills (laughs). But I have no nerves for sport, so being the runner of a rally would be impossible. A while ago we just had the sport festival, and I'm really happy that my white group won! An episode of that is that my class teacher ran the rally with all his might, from his face ?? (scan blurred, sorry) (laughs). Now I'm giving my best with rehearsals for “The Shonen Club”. I'm reading manga in the commuting train, at the moment I'm immersed in “Slam Dunk”. I get moved and cry while reading, so I might be seen as a strange person...

Of those guys only Wakiyama Rei has no tag~<3
