Quatre Raberba Winner; Arrival at Oxford.

Feb 04, 2008 18:48

He wasn't sure where he was. He could only gather so much information about his surroundings by looking around. It was Earth. But this wasn't the Earth he was familiar with. It was... so different. It reminded him of pictures of the past he'd seen in old books. It lead him to believe he'd somehow ended up in the past. Poor Quatre was entirely ( Read more... )

Upon approaching the college, Wufei did a double take. Quatre Winner was here? How could this be? Did this mean that the other pilots had arrived here too? Were they all in the same predicament? He noted the feline companion he had as well.
"I suppose fate has brought us here," Wufei greeted. His own deamon sat beside him appearing to be aloof, but keeping a keen eye on the two new people.

He was content, for now, thinking and enjoying the scenery. With this new place, new environment, it certainly gave him enough to think about. Brienne was content with laying out on the cement step, in the glow of the setting sun.

What was he to do, here? Was there a purpose for his sudden arrival? There must have been. It was too strange to have just appeared on his own, he thought. Hm.

He heard the others words, and he couldn't help but blink. That voice... It was so familiar. Quatre turned his head, and a soft smile crossed his lips when he saw Wufei standing there. Brienne rolled over fast, looking up at him with a weary look before she realized Quatre knew this man. She settled back down, though not as lazily as she had previously been.

"I suppose it is, Wufei." He held a hand out politely. "It's nice to see you again. It's been a while."

Wufei inclined his head in agreement. He preferred to not get attached to people. However, Quatre was a fellow pilot and someone he had come to respect. He enjoyed the other's preseence and was glad to see a familiar face. He sat down beside Quatre and scratched behind Ming's ears, who let out a purr of content. It was a while before he spoke.

"I believe we should keep an eye out for the rest of the pilots. I don't think it's a coincidence that we are both here. Yet, I do not know what our purpose is."

Quatre smiled. He expected no more from Wufei. He'd obviously not changed much since the war, and their last meetings. He sat himself down on the steps once more. "Yes... That's a good idea. I wouldn't be surprised if any others were here." He hoped they were, but he also kind of hoped they weren't. He didn't want them to be subjected to a strange world, but at the same time, he hadn't seen them in a long time. He had conflicting feelings about that.

Brienne stood once more, moving around Wufei and Ming, as though sizing them up. Though she was much smaller then the Ocelot, who was probably more ferocious and a much better hunter than she, a mere domesticated house cat. She finally settled on the space beside Quatre on the same step he was seated on, but she turned her attention elsewhere, finally.

Quatre lifted a hand to gently pet the felines' head. "This place is so... fantasy-like, though. I keep thinking maybe.. I'm dreaming," He mused.

((I hope you don't mind me dropping in at least briefly))Having finally been found by the porter just outside Camilla's room, Bran had been introduced to his own, down the hall a way. He and Gwenno had settled in for the evening, people watching from his window, getting a feel for the place and the mannerisms of the people. The new day, however, he and Gwenno had both been a little stir crazy. He couldn't just wait for Lord Asriel to call him. Bran was a growing boy and a curious one at that. He and Gwenno were now romping a bit on the grassy courtyard, his dark clothes and pale features almost blurring as they ran cheerfully along. Gwenno bounced and bounded around him, the sounds of cheeful laughter and playful barks drifting around the mostly quiet courtyard. They'd been at it for a good half an hour to forty five minutes now and finally they began to settle. Still walking, they left the courtyard and moved through more of the college archways, panting a little and trying to catch their breaths ( ... )

Quatre could hear the sounds of footsteps on the cement, and the language he didn't understand made him realize someone else was there. Out of the corner of his eyes, he could see the man dressed in all black sit on the steps. Like just about everybody else -- with Wufei as the only exception -- he didn't recognize him. Again, another person with an animal familiar.

He looked back down at Brienne, watching the feline shortly until he heard the unknown man speaking. Quatre turned his head, blinking softly as he watched Bran. "N..no, you haven't disturbed me, it's fine." He smiled softly.

Quatre smiled softly at the others introduction. He held his hand out, shaking the others hand firmly as he shifted slightly to reach better, and see the other easier. "My name is Quatre. I'm new, too." He said, the polite smile not once leaving his face.

Brienne stayed on the side of Quatre that was farthest from Bran and Gwenno. Probably because Gwenno was a dog, and she herself was just a cat. There was no shame in being cautious. "My name is Brienne," The Daemon said, before Quatre got a chance to introduce her. She sat up straight, watching Bran and his Daemon.

The blond shook his head. "I'm not. I'm Arabian, and a..little bit European." He brushed his bangs out of his eyes, glancing straight ahead at the roads before he looked back at Bran.
