I think the White House, the Democrats, amd their liberal media should all make a pledge to lower their thermostats to a maximum of 60 degrees F as a sign of solidarity with the "Occupy" movement.
My winter thermostat is 55F at night, 65F in the day, even if it's 10F outside... because I'm not an OWS protester, a Democrat, or part of the liberal media and I just plain can't afford to keep it warmer!
I sleep better at night, too. Cave under a pile of blankets and breathe that air. It helps that I share my bed with a space heater... all I have to do is give the space-heater an occasional kick to stop the snoring.
The idiots who are camping out -- or trying to -- out there probably include one hell of a lot of members of the anti-vaccine crowd, the ones who believe vaccination causes autism and other Evil Ailments. Which means, since these occupation sites are such crowd scenes, that diphtheria, whooping cough, rubella, infectious pneuomnia, influenza, and a number of other ugly infectios diseases that can and often do kill are making the rounds out there. Those diseases can make you seriously ill. If, on top of that, you also have hypothermia, you are dead. RIP, idiots!
Yeah, I know. They're idiots -- in the original sense of the word, which is Greek, and means "private person." So private that not even reality can get past their security screens.
Children have smaller bodies and more naive immune systems than adults, and infectious diseases, like hypothermia and hyperthermia from exposure, always hit them harder than they do the adults.
More horrific: those that refuse to vaccinate are sending those kids who did vaccinate but in whom it didn't take to the hospital, or worse.
The CDC estimates that an average of 15% of those vaccinated simply get zero immunity from it. (Estimate, since it's not like humans come with a meter on the side to illustrate immunity to X or Y.)
