Right, well, the second draft of the second book, Johannes Cabal the Detective, went off to Doubleday and Headline on Monday. I'm sure it will go to a third draft, but that one should be relatively quick to do. (
Zombies, and fairies, and novels, oh my! )

Glad to see progress being made on JCtD--have you yet decided whether you liked Zombieland or not? I'm waffling myself on deciding to even see it. I mean, Where the Wild Things Are comes out I think this weekend, here, and I might just rather spend my money on that bit of nostalgia...

I think one of the important things to keep in mind about Zombieland is that it's a comedy, not a horror flick. Yes it has zombies in it, but it's a comedy with zombies in it and lots of fun over the top violence. When it comes to the trend of faster more explained zombies in recent years I think it's a side effect of two things. One being the idea that for a new horror movie of a classic creature has to reinvent it to be interesting. The other being that it's hard to make something that can't move very fast really scary without putting some work and actual thought into it. It's like how there are more and more startle films out there and fewer and fewer horror films.

"Dead Set" sounds interesting. I'll see about finding a copy, I'm sure someone I know has it.

But I'm very curious about your thoughts on Inglorious Bastards. I, too, had to think about it for a while before pretty much coming to the same conclusion. I didn't like it, but for some reason can't exactly pinpoint whether it's a matter of personal taste, or if it was a poorly done movie. I've had a bit of a hard time analyzing it.
