Jan 02, 2007 11:01

I read 70 books in 2006. I'm pretty sure that means I have absolutely no life. It also means that I spend way too much money on books.  Here's a break down of what I read & which ones I liked.

Bold- Books I loved
Italics- Books I enjoyed, but probably wouldn't read again
Plain Text- Ones that I read, but left no long term lasting impression on me.

I remember reading that you didn't like the Book Thief. I liked it because it was a look at the Holocaust from the average German family's pov. Almost every Holocaust book I've ever read, it's been from the Jewish point of view. I took a literature of the Holocaust class in high school, and every book was from the Jewish pov. To me it was interesting to read about what it was like for a family that didn't believe in what the Nazis were doing, but were trying to get by. I thought it was an interesting perspective, and the last 50 pages just killed me. I sat in bed and cried my eyes out. Plus, I loved that the story was told by Death.

What were your favorites of the year?

Thanks! I probably shouldn't admit this because every book snob will roll their eyes, but I'm such a sucker for an interesting cover. That's how I find a lot my books, based on the cover.

If you have any suggetions for good reads, let me know!
