I enjoyed this AU. Your positioning of recognizable, stylishly and affectionately written versions of Trek characters within a knowledgeably-rendered filmdom held my interest. Integrating characters from other Trek series into this romance between Bones and Jim was an engaging touch.
I absolutely loved this. The various characters were awesome, the translations of those characters into the world of Hollywood was great, and the story was constantly engaging. My favorite bit was your obvious familiarity with LA. As a native Angeleno, I could appreciate the little digs towards traffic, love of In-and-Out (which soothes all misfortune), and other bits and pieces that ran really true. Not to mention my love of Kirk and Spock as USC alums. Makes sense in the story, but also made me happy. Fight on!
Oh USC, haha. I try to put things in spaces that I know reasonably well, so I'm so pleased that comes through to a native. That's a real compliment! Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the story!
This is one of those stories that's like one of those dinner parties-- you know the kind-- I'm sure you've attended. I'm sure you've given more than a few.
It's one of those parties where all the guests are perfectly counterbalanced and the conversation is sparkling, funny, tender and touching and sad and fascinating in waves like the ocean, rolling and changeable and constantly moving, so that everyone's riveted to all the different aspects going on all at once? Yeah. It's one of those.
It's the kind of dinner where the food is just perfect-- utterly right for the season, matched to the tastes of the people attending and the place where it's held, perfectly paced and the food is just right-- delicious, perfectly seasoned, all the right hits of fat and vegetal, sweet and salty and spicy and bland-- yes, bland (quiet, really) is a necessary component, and your hostess with the mostest, she knows that component's important as well
( ... )
this was awesome. The details you have put into your world building were amazing and your characters just blew me away. I enjoyed every moment of it. I sat on the edge of my seat hoping they would win their awards, wanted to slap Miri whenever she was mentioned, and hug Joanna when she was told she needed to loose some weight.
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us. I just wish I could give you something back just as amazing. :-)
