Final Confrontation

Kathy knows what is coming. She knows Bane peeked under the mask while she was unconcious -- why else would he ask for all three of them now? Her father, Penguin, and Thorne -- she remains bound and held by Bane as she watches the three crime lords step into the room. And she knows that it's only moments until she's unmasked in front of her ( Read more... )

Finally. One of these Bat freaks nailed dead to rights.

The stench of cigar smoke is unmistakeable as Rupert Thorne prefers to remain silhouetted in the shadow.

Finally. One of these Enemies of Batman goons proves worth the money he's been paid.

"We shouldn't waste time," he says, voice low and angered. "End this now."

Bane waits patiently until all three of the crimelords are in the room before he even deigns to respond. "Pardon, Senor Thorne, but I think we should consider what your partners have to say in the matter. I have something to show you, regarding your Batwoman."
As soon as all three have a chance to get settled, he holds Kathy up with one hand almost fully encircling her neck, the other pulling her mask off.

And Kathy's face is revealed. She snarls at Bane, then eyes her father remorselessly.

Penguin was, shockingly, late.

He blamed it entierly on Mr. Pine, who insisted that Sumerian numerology insisted that they get a frappachino from a certin overrated Java-peddler, in order to prevent certin disaster. They would have been later if he had not bludgeoned Pine into submission when he contracted a case of The Madness, insisting they had the wrong shop, as he forgot to carry a two.

Waddleing in, Penguin adjusted his hat, grinning. "Wak wak wak waah! Yes, the pretentious parsimonius pretender has been preyed apon, and now our prisoner will preach us a-" Penguin paused.

The little man was about halfway in, away from his fellow masters of crime-for about a second, leaping up in the air and landing, harshly, inbetween Thorn and Durlesque. His hat and monocle shaded the supervillain's features, but Penguin's umbrella shook wildly in his glove-guided hands. Flippers. Who knew?

It wasn't avian rage that came out of Cobblepot's mouth, though, as the little man looking up at the Batwoman. "...Kathleen?"

Thorne's eyes widen at this revelation, but he doesn't gasp in shock, nor does he snarl in anger.

He simply turns his steely glare over to his partner, cigar smoke billowing from his lips.

"You have anything to say about this, Duquense?"

"Kathy."

Carlton can't believe his eyes. The woman who had single-handedly destroyed his business... was his own daughter.

He turns and looks at his associates. What will they do? Will they blame him?

And what will they do to his daughter?

"Sweetheart...how could you do this to me, baby? Why??"

"It was easy, Daddy. You made it easy. You turn your house into a prison; your daughter into a prisoner; your wife died because she stood too close to you! You made this all happen, Daddy... this is all on you."

The Penguin's umbrella, which had been resting so comfortably in Cobblepot's paw, is without warning ensnared in a thin, exceedingly strong cable. Unless Penguin's ready and wanting to fight back, the umbrella will go flying, far away from Kathy and the others.

One spot in the shadows is darker than the others, the grays shifting to black in the outline of a caped and cowled man.

The Penguin was in the middle of berateing his brain dead busniess buddies why shooting Batgirl before finding everything out was a bad plan, when his umbrella goes flying. The Penguin quacks, literarly, pulling for a second before the weapon soars towards The Shadows and barely keeping himself standing for the trouble ( ... )

Penguin should learn to speak less. The explosion comes nowhere close to the Bat, and by the time the gun is settled near Kathy, he is somewhere else. He knows about the bomb. And much as he loathes the gathered villains, he wants them in jail, not in pieces. "The yacht is carrying a bomb, Penguin," comes the icy warning frighteningly close to Cobblepot. "She can stop it."

His brow creases into a frown.

"Get that damn gun off my daughter, and maybe I will, Penguin!"

He steps up, drawing himself to his full height, even though Bane dwarfs him-- he still cuts an impressive figure.
