what to do in Vegas?

I'll be going to Las Vegas in September for a work trip.  One of my goals while I'm there, is to go to one of the nicest restaurants I can find in the area for dinner.  I'm asking for anyone that's been there or knows about the area to tell me what their favorite restaurant in Vegas is.  I want suggestions of all kinds.  Price isn't really an ( Read more... )

I don't know about food because that wasn't a priority for us but Brandon and I had soooo much fun seeing the cirque shows. We saw O and Ka. I bought O tickets ahead of time which was a good move and we bought Ka the day of for half off. If we could, we would have gone to see even more of those shows but we ran into black out days. It's been 3 months since we've been to Vegas and I'm still completely psyched about those shows and would like to go back to either see them again or see other ones. Also previous to Vegas I wasn't really excited about these at all. The theaters in Vegas are amazing.

I also thought this mystery adventure was pretty cute. www.mysteryadventureslasvegas.com

The two really nice dinners we had when we were there last Fall were at Nobu (at Hard Rock) and Craftsteak (at MGM). Both were amazing and delicious. But: We did the "tasting" menu at Craftsteak because there were so many different things we wanted to try, and it was an INSANE amount of food. Even though it was delicious, we were unpleasantly full and didn't enjoy the rest of our evening as much as we might have otherwise. I'm not sure I'd recommend the tasting menu unless you haven't eaten all day or don't have any other plans for the rest of the evening, but the food is fantastic ( ... )

We ate at Isla which is in Treasure Island. I LOVED it! It was some of the best food I've ever eaten. I had this homemade guacamole that was soooooo good! Then we saw Mystere there. Its an older Cirque show, but I really liked it.

Other than that, we walked around, explored, drank, and gambled. I think the best place to gamble is in old vegas, because of lower minimums and you get better odds...which I think makes it more fun. However, I wouldn't recommend eating at the casinos there because the two or three meals we ate there were not very good.

We also ate at the Planet Hollywood buffet for lunch. It wasn't great food, but it was good and the selection and amount of food was pretty amazing.

If you want a cheap meal or snack, there is a mall on the strip that has a food court with moderately priced food. We did that a few times to avoid paying a fortune for a light meal.
