what to do in Vegas?

I'll be going to Las Vegas in September for a work trip.  One of my goals while I'm there, is to go to one of the nicest restaurants I can find in the area for dinner.  I'm asking for anyone that's been there or knows about the area to tell me what their favorite restaurant in Vegas is.  I want suggestions of all kinds.  Price isn't really an ( Read more... )

The two really nice dinners we had when we were there last Fall were at Nobu (at Hard Rock) and Craftsteak (at MGM). Both were amazing and delicious. But: We did the "tasting" menu at Craftsteak because there were so many different things we wanted to try, and it was an INSANE amount of food. Even though it was delicious, we were unpleasantly full and didn't enjoy the rest of our evening as much as we might have otherwise. I'm not sure I'd recommend the tasting menu unless you haven't eaten all day or don't have any other plans for the rest of the evening, but the food is fantastic.

And of course you have to do a Vegas buffet at least once. I recommend the one at the Bellagio or the Wynn.

There's a modern Mexican restaurant at MGM (the name of which I forget) that I don't recommend. The food was meh and not at all worth the Vegas prices.

I'd say you can't go to Vegas without seeing Penn & Teller, but Penn Jillette is my fantasy boyfriend, so I'm biased a little. :) It was a fantastic show, though. So was Cirque's Zumanity. The other show we saw was Crazy Horse, since we wanted to see at least one showgirl-type show and that one is classic. It was entertaining, but not particularly special.

Definitely check out the half-price ticket places! We got great deals on P&T and Crazy Horse.
