Growing up we kept tinsel above a certain height to keep the family cat's tail from redistributing it throughout the house.

We gave up curling ribbon when we acquired Tass. It's been so long, I haven't readjusted to using it yet, despite her passing.

We gave up on delicate ornaments on the tree when we acquired Autumn. For a variety of reasons, this is the first year in ages I've had a real Christmas tree in the house. So far I don't think Heisenberg is even using it as a water dish.

My holiday traditions have always been dramatically modified by the vagaries of the animals in my life.

Our dog can jump high enough to get the live wreaths if they're on a standard door hook. They go outside only, and I didn't bother to make one this year.

This is precisely why I've not used ribbon on any gifts in approx two decades.

Ribbon (or icicles) can lead to a very expensive, stressful holiday.
Don't ask how I know.
