OK, CNN is finally pushing me too far. They are once again running as the lead story an op-ed piece by the president of a Southern Poverty Law Center recognized hate group. I need to start getting my news elsewhere.
MSNBC and FOX both wear their biases on their sleeve too much for my taste, and both give me an ipecac-like reaction. I want a news service that at least makes an attempt at journalistic impartiality.
What I like about CNN, MSNBC, and FOX is that their coverage is reasonably comprehensive, meaning I don't have to go to one source for political news, another for entertainment news, and a third for financial news. I'd prefer my new preferred news outlet to be the same.
I don't mind ads and I don't mind a user registration requirement, but paywalls aren't acceptable. If I want to link to a story, I want to be able to do so without worrying if people can read it or not.
My local paper (which is part of the L.A. Times network) does an acceptable job with local and California news, so I'm more interested in the national and international news organizations.
So, Lazyweb, tell me. What are your favorite news sources?
Update: Some great suggestions in the comments. Check them out, and thank you!
