It's amazing how media coverage can take something I've got a passing interest in and turn it into something I'm completely apathetic about.

I really don't care which celebrity is on the beach after being arrested.

I'd understand the news a lot better if I'd remember to never read the headlines.

So I decided I'm over my annoyance with the producers of Judging Amy to actually be curious to see the episode I was in a dozen years ago. So I looked it up, and now I'm, like, seriously indignant and all like, "What do you mean it's not available on Netflix streaming or Hulu!?"

Ah, technology, you have spoiled me so...

A 14-year-old young woman in Islamabad who advocates education for women has been shot in the head. The Taliban spoke out in favor of the shooting. The headline in the Bee newspapers:

Taliban call girl's shooting 'obligatory'

I'll be over here banging my head against the wall.

Wouldn't it be easier to use the media to convince people that beer bellies are sexy?

Old news is good news.

Thanks to the wonderful suggestions I got to yesterday's post asking for alternatives to the persistently hate-group supporting CNN (plus a similar post on facebook), I've set up a new bookmark folder with several news outlets in it. My plan is to open the tabs when I would normally be looking at CNN, and see which outlets I gravitate towards. So ( Read more... )

OK, CNN is finally pushing me too far. They are once again running as the lead story an op-ed piece by the president of a Southern Poverty Law Center recognized hate group. I need to start getting my news elsewhere ( Read more... )
