An interesting variety of options presented. I'd go with crawfish/lebkuchen/figs. Mmmmm.

Ivarr (Juana's husband) made some crawfish from Scappi (I think) at AWW this year that were fantastic.

I think I like the savory options better. The other reads to me like eggnog flavor with fish in it. I suppose it would depend on how much lebkuchen was required to thicken the eggs, but the honey would definitely be a note. My taste is modern, I'm thinking :)

I am curious. Mundanely, I have used pennyroyal as a flea killer, but have been warned not to use it in things to be consumed as it is toxic. So is it a safe culinary herb? I know it is taboo for pregnant females as it can induce abortion. Anybody out there know any more? It has such a great fragrance.

I must admit I also was a little surprised at pennyroyal when I finally found a reference to the word in a dictionary. First of all, there is the question if this was the same meaning in the 15th and 16th century as it was in the dictionary, or was it a wider meaning word for mints in general. I haven't read enough of this particular manuscript to know, but I will also consult some 16th century herbals to see if there is congruency of meaning ( ... )
