People are running around everywhere, children are screaming and music is playing somewhere adding to the general noise level. It’s something classical, with piano and lots of violins; he guesses it’s supposed to put people in the mood, but taking one look at the mayhem he has the feeling it isn’t working.

His plan of quietly slipping out one door, walking two doors down and slipping in there just as quietly is shot to Hell as soon as he enters the hall. People attack him from every direction asking the most inane questions about bathrooms, parking and gifts, until he’s finally able to shake them all off and slip in through the right door. What are they doing roaming the halls anyway? Isn’t someone supposed to seat them?

“It’s mayhem out there,” he says, shutting the door firmly behind him.

Jensen spins around and faces him. “You’re not supposed to be here,” he says as if Jared has committed some grave sin against proper etiquette.

Jared rolls his eyes. “Even wild horses, and what I faced out there was much worse I might add, wouldn’t be able to keep me from ogling you in a tux.”

Jensen smiles, his eyes crinkling prettily at the corners. Jared can’t believe he’ll be thirty next year. Jensen doesn’t know yet but Jared already made plans for a party and a surprise trip to England. They went a couple of years ago and he found Jensen's obvious love for all things British endearing.

He even started talking like a Brit, all posh and cute, probably something he learned during his time in England before Jared met him. Of course he teased Jensen to no end about it, but it was also stupidly hot.

“You sure you’re ready for this?” he asks, walking up to Jensen and sliding his hands along his silky cumberbund.

“Are you?” Jensen counter asks, lifting his head for a kiss that Jared is all too willing to give him.

“I don’t know,” Jared murmurs. “It’s all so weird.”

He slides his hands down to cup Jensen's ass, pulling him closer. If someone had asked him three months ago if he thought this would ever happen he would have said no. Jensen wraps his arms around his neck and hides his face against Jared's shoulder.

“It’s just… married? I still can’t believe it.”

“Me neither.”

They cling to each other for a few more moments before Jensen lets go and straightens up. He fiddles with the collar on Jared's shirt and straightens his tie.

“You’re looking awfully hot, Mr. Padalecki,” he says with a smile.

“The same to you, Mr. Ackles,” Jared murmurs.

He wants to do dirty things to Jensen's cumberbund. It’s just so tempting; having all that silk embracing Jensen's midriff. He reaches out and touches it again, moving his hands to rest on Jensen's hips.

“I’m gonna fuck you wearing nothing but the cumberbund later,” he promises.

Jensen hits him upside the head. “Bad Jared,” he says. “I cannot have an erection in these pants.”

Jared looks down at the obvious tenting of Jensen's pants that really leaves nothing to the imagination.

“It’s looking fine to me,” he says, waggling his eyebrows and moving his hand to caress the hard line of Jensen's cock.

“No you don’t,” Jensen bats his hand away and takes a step back. “Don’t you have somewhere to be?”

Jared sighs. “You don’t let me have any fun,” he complains.

Jensen arches an eyebrow and Jared pouts. Jensen's mean, he should always be nice to Jared and not make him face the hoards in the hallway again.

“See you later,” Jensen says when Jared turns for the door and Jared only barely resists sticking his tongue out. He can totally be five if he wants to.

This time he manages to slip back to where he came from without any disruptions. The hallways have been more or less cleared, there are only a few stray people in their Sunday finest still loitering and they leave him alone.

Jesse looks up when he enters and Jared experiences that familiar feeling of disassociation when he meets the panicked look in Jesse's green eyes. He’s fiddling nervously with his cuff links, his knees jiggling in a nauseating way and he’s deathly pale making his freckles stand out against his skin.

Jared leans against the door and smiles, glancing at the clock on the wall. “It’s almost time,” he says and part of him enjoys the sudden shudder that goes through Jesse's body.

He might have forgiven Jesse for treating him like an ass once upon a time and for being a dirty rotten sleazebag, but he’s never really forgiven him for all the things he’s taken away from Jensen over the years. Jared certainly knows how to hold a grudge.

It’s unfair really, because Jesse's changed a lot since his senior year of college. A few years back Jesse had a few drinks too many but still got behind the wheel of his car with Callie, his on and off girlfriend, riding shotgun. He ran the car off the road and nearly killed Callie, who spent three weeks in a coma and will walk with a limp for the rest of her life, while Jesse stepped out of the car without a scratch on him.

He changed after that willingly let himself be admitted to rehab, stopped drinking and popping pills like they were candy and out of the ashes another Jesse emerged. None of them ever realized, not Jensen, not Jared, not a single one of Jesse's many hanger(-)ons that Jesse was an addict. That he started every day with a drink and more often than not ended it with something much stronger.

Jared knows that Jensen blames himself for not realizing his twin had gone off the deep end, but it’s not like Jesse ever really let anyone in. He’s a different man now, sure he’s still cocky and headstrong, still kinda thinks he’s God’s gift to the world, but he’s also quieter and more caring, trying to make up for all the years he spent being an ass.

“What if she doesn’t show up?” Jesse asks suddenly, looking up at Jared with renewed panic in his eyes.

“She’ll show,” Jared assures him. “She spent too much time planning this wedding to ruin it.”

Jesse nods, looking down on his hands. “Thanks for being here, man,” he says and he sounds so pathetically grateful that Jared's resentment melts away.

Jesse asked for forgiveness once and Jared gave it to him without hesitation, but his heart was never really in it, maybe it’s time to finally let the past go.

“Do you ever regret committing yourself to Jensen?” Jesse asks suddenly.

Jared blinks, thumbing the gold band on his finger and smiles. “No, I don’t.”

“But… I mean… Don’t you fight? Don’t you ever want… I dunno… change?”

Jared sighs and leans back against the door. “It’s not always going to be easy and crystal clear, Jess,” he says. “There have been times when I just wanted to kick his pretty face in. There have been times when I thought for sure we were over and I’ve been tempted, of course I have, I’m only human. I love Jensen and he’s the most beautiful guy in the world… but… the grass is always greener, you know. But every time someone caught my fancy, or someone gave me an offer I didn’t want to refuse, I found myself weighing what I have with Jensen against a quick fuck and Jensen always won.”

Jesse bites his lip. “What about Jen… Did he ever…”

Jared shakes his head. “There was this guy… three years ago. Eric.” Even now Jared can’t help the sneer crawling onto his face. “He was all Jensen ever talked about, it was Eric this and Eric that and Eric said. I thought for sure he was going to leave me and I… I was ready to let him go.”

Jesse frowns. “But you guys… you always seem so happy.”

“We are. It was just… We were going through a rough patch. We’d been together for a couple of years and our feelings for each other were no longer as… intense. We didn’t have sex every night, didn’t want to spend every waking minute together and… I don’t know. It was just hard. It felt… bleak.”

“So what happened?”

“We fought a lot. Instead of having sex we screamed at each other and went to bed angry every night. I felt I was losing Jensen to Eric and he felt like I wasn’t even trying to hold on, and I wasn’t. I wasn’t sure it was worth fighting for, I kinda felt that if Jensen was so easily tempted by someone new and shiny then maybe he wasn’t worth having and all we ever did was fight anyway.”

“But you stayed together.” Jesse sounds as if he’s clinging to this with all his might and Jared smiles.

“Yeah, we did. I told Jensen that if he was so damned fond of Eric he should just go to him and Jensen told me that fine if that was what I wanted maybe he would.”

Jared shakes his head, he can still remember all to well what it felt like. The two of them standing three feet apart but feeling as if there was an ocean between them, anger simmering under the surface and so many hurtful words backed up on their tongues.

“Go on,” Jesse says impatiently, like he’s dying to hear the rest of the story even though he knows how it ends.

“We just stood there after that, staring at each other, like it was all said and done. I think that for a few long seconds we both thought we were over for real that there would be no more kisses, breakfasts in bed or leisurely strolls on Sunday afternoons. Then we fell into each others arms and fucked like bunnies on the living room floor.” Jared smirks. “I still don’t know who took the first step or if we moved at the same time, but I do remember waking up with rug burns on my knees and Jensen in my arms and I guess that’s all that matters.”

Jesse grins, looking a little calmer. “You made the right choice, man. I think I will always be a little miffed that I was so fucked up back then I never realized what a catch you are.”

Jared laughs. “No offence, Jess, but I’m kinda happy that you were.”

“Thanks,” Jesse says, sounding serious all of a sudden. “When I picture the perfect relationship I always kinda think of you guys and it helps to know you’ve had problems too.”

“I’m glad I could help.”

Jared looks at the clock; it’s almost time. He never really thought he’d live to see the day Jesse got hitched, but ever since Danneel came into his life he’s been walking on clouds. Some people might say they should have waited, but Jared won’t ever be one of them.

He just knows they’ll be happy, just as he knows he chose the right twin. Had he never met Jensen chances are that he would have hung on Jesse's shirttails until the day he went into rehab and who knows what would have happened then. It might have been Jesse's name hugging his finger instead of Jensen's and he’d missed out on knowing the most amazing person he’s ever met.

“Will you excuse me for a second?” he asks.

Jesse looks confused. “Sure.”

The halls are empty this time, but he can hear muted talking spilling out from the church. Everyone has finally taken their seats, ready for the big adventure.

“You didn’t lose him, did you?” Jensen asks when Jared walks through the door, genuine worry on his face.

Jared shakes his head, drinking in the sight of Jensen Ackles in a tux. Sure, he’s been staring at Jesse all afternoon and its scary how much they look alike nowadays, but it’s not the same, will never be. He crosses the floor and wraps Jensen up in a bear hug, pressing his face against Jensen's ear.

“I love you,” he murmurs.

“Tell me you didn’t sleep with him,” Jensen says but Jared can hear the laughter in his voice.

“Wouldn’t. Only want you.”

Jensen laughs and pushes Jared away to look at him. “Don’t tell me you cry at weddings too,” he says with a grin. “I thought that was reserved only for movies where animals get hurt.”

“I might if you don’t hold my hand.”

Jensen laughs again and brings a hand up to rest against Jared's cheek. “You wanna tell me what brought this on?”

Jared shakes his head and grins. “I just wanted to rile you up before the ceremony,” he says, moving one of his hands to cup Jensen through his pants.

“Bastard.” Jensen swats at his hand but he’s still grinning. “Luckily for you, I love you too.”

Jared gives him a quick kiss. “Did you get that speech memorized?”

“Yeah.”

“Do you have the ring?”

Jensen pats his pocket.

“Is Danneel on her way?”

“Will arrive in two minutes.”

“Lets get this show on the road then.”

They walk out into the corridor hand in hand, fingers loosely twined together. Jared gives Jensen a quick kiss before taking off towards the church to take his seat on the groom’s side. He was only watching Jesse in the first place to give Jensen time to practice his speech for the dinner, and because Jesse and Jensen might very well have killed each other with nerves.

He’s almost at the door when he hears Jensen call out behind him. “Jared, where’s Jesse?”
