It was good. Not jump up and down, sobbing, screaming, I-have-to-see-this-every-day-until-it-leaves-the-theaters good, but good. I was entertained. I would have been entertained even had I  not read the books. Probably more so in fact. Symptomatic of the fact that a film rendering of a book is always, only a rendering, not a moving mirror.

You lived in southern Cali? I lived in Palmdale and Lancaster for ten years when I was really young. I have a ton of family all over Cali.

So, I would generally hesitate to say this sort of stuff in such a public forum as this, but I grew up in Lancaster; several years in Antelope Acres, a while in Little Rock! Also for about 10 years, from about 1990 to 2000. When were you there?

Wow, that's absolutely incredible! Late 82 to about 1993. Not specific on the date - I know we left shortly after the riots. I still have family in Palmdale and Quartz Hill, not to mention all over the rest of Cali. How crazy of a small world do we live in?
