Spent Friday night and Saturday at my folks', because my mom had been out of town since Wednesday, and she didn't want my father alone for that long. It starts to be a "lesser of two evils" thing sometimes. My grandmother wasn't eating at all, but if you brought her a milkshake, she would happily sip at it. So my mom told the nurses, "She wants ice cream and milkshakes and nothing else, let her have it." I mean, she's 94. What possible harm is going to do if she's at least eating something?

I'm glad your dad is *happy,* though. That's a big thing.

Seriously -- why not eat ice cream all day?? I'm for it. Actually, I've read an article about an Alzheimer's program that does that. Want to eat chocolate all day? No problem, if it makes you happy!

That sums up my MiL's last year, in terms of eating. Except not chocolate, she wasn't a huge fan. But she'd eat her ice cream first, eat the burger out of the bun, then leave the rest. Her sister who was caring for her finally gave up trying to get her to eat normally and just made her milk shakes.

Yeah, good for her. If it's not hurting her in the day-to-day, I don't see the problem.
