“That was a damn good match you guys played last.” Aiba, Sho and Matsujun scurried after Gussan, their robes trailing in the thick, wet snow.
“Gussan…” Aiba wondered how best to formulate the question he had been dying to ask a Professor in weeks now. “Do you know that there is a gigantic dog hiding in the castle?”
Gussan stopped in his tracks, the Christmas tree he was carrying narrowly missed Sho as he dropped it to the ground.
“Here, how’d ya know about Momo?”
“Momo?!” Matsujun snorted, Sho gave him a short shove in the ribs.
“We kinda bumped into him a few weeks ago.” Aiba shuffled his feet nervously.
“Momo is mine. Lent him to Johnny-san in exchange for…well, doesn’t matter. You shouldn’t poke your noses into dangerous business.” Gussan grunted and hoisted the Christmas tree back onto his shoulders.
“But Gussan, what’s he there for? To guard something?” Sho speculated, shuffling along in the tracks Gussan was leaving.
“Just drop the subject.” Gussan replied angrily, picking up his stride.

As Christmas drew closer the castle became more and more deserted. Only a handful of students remained to celebrate the festive season at Hogwarts. Ohno and Nino had departed, leaving Sho and Aiba to put up with the constant stream of complaints about the weather from Matsujun.
The Gryffindor common room was now totally empty. The only Gryffindor’s to remain were Aiba and head boy, Sakamoto. Yokoyu had gone off to spend his holidays with family. Tackey had travelled up north with his Hufflepuff boyfriend, Tsubasa. Yamapi and the Domoto Brothers had mysteriously vanished one night, leaving Aiba a note which read; ’PLEASE FEED THE MANDRAKE ONCE A DAY.’ Yamapi had scribbled in neat handwriting underneath it, ’Beware, it does bite.’ So far Aiba had been too afraid to feed it, and it was growing thinner by the day.

“AIBA-CHAN!” Sakamoto yelled up to the first year dorms. “That bloody Lion of yours has gone and covered the whole common room in snow!”
Aiba doubled-over with laughter as he reached the bottom of the stairs, to see the whole place, including the fireplace, covered in a layer of fluffy white snow.
“At least it looks festive now.” He gave a cheeky grin. Sakamoto just shook his head in disbelief.
“It’s against the rules to keep Lions as pets here.” He shot a glance at Shimuken, who was baring his teeth back at the head boy.
“Aw come on Sakamoto-sempai~ he’s not doing anyone any harm.” Aiba walked over to his pet and buried his face in its thick, wet fur. Shimuken stopped his growling and licked Aiba on the side of his face.

“The dog’s hiding something, I just know it!” Sho whispered across to Aiba as they sat, heads together in the library one cold evening.
“What would Johnny be hiding here, at Hogwarts?” Aiba pretended to rack his brains, but somehow all he could do was think about how handsome Sho looked from close-up. Both boys sat in silence for a few more minutes.
“There you guys are!” Matsujun’s voice floated across the room, shaking Aiba from his thoughts.
“Matsujun.” Sho pulled away from Aiba and looked up.
“I think you guys will love me for what I’ve found out.” Matsujun sat himself down, looking pleased with himself. “Johnny summoned me to his office…to talk with me…” Matsujun shot Sho a stern look. “And I overheard him talking to an old friend of his, Tsunku. Ya know, the headmaster of the H!P Witch school in Ireland.” Aiba and Sho sat up more straight. “It seems Johnny is hiding a precious stone for Tsunku. A stone which gives the drinker immortal youth.” Matsujun paused to let it all sink into Aiba and Sho.
“…how can you drink a stone?” Sho looked confused.
“You drink out of it. Or whatever. Geez Sakurai, use your imagination.” Matsujun rolled his eyes. “Well, it would also explain why the girls of H!P School of Witchcraft look 10 years younger than what they actually are.” He placed his fingers together and grinned.
“Ok…but why Hogwarts? There could be a million better places to hide a stone.” Aiba said in a hushed tone.
“But no place is as safe as Hogwarts. While Johnny is here no-one would dare to break-in.” Matsujun was beginning to get frustrated. “Why do you guys have to try and prove me wrong? Just face it, I’m always right.”
Aiba and Sho exchanged looks. “Ok ok, we don’t wanna fight. You’re right.”
Matsujun smiled triumphantly. “Anyone fancy a game of wizard’s chess?” He pulled out his wand and summoned a chess set from across the room. To Aiba’s amazement the small gold and silver figures re-formed themselves to look like their players. The Kings transformed to replicate Matsujun. The castles were now miniature models of Sho, and Aiba recognised himself as the Knights. “Cool. But me and Sho-chan are together.” Aiba dragged Sho around to join his side of the table.
“That’s obvious…” Matsujun muttered under his breath.

The days went by so fast that before Aiba knew it, Sakamoto was at his bedside shaking him awake. “Aiba-chan! Wake up! It’s Christmas!”
Aiba yawned briefly before shooting up out of his bed. “Christmas?!”
Sakamoto smiled, “Yeah, your friends are downstairs waiting for you.”
“Friends?”
“Yes~ That Matsumoto kid and a Ravenclaw second year.” Sakamoto said impatiently.
“Oh?....How’d they get in?” Aiba was still way too sleepy to take anything in.
“I let them in…after they nearly knocked down the portrait hole.” Sakamoto sighed. “But only this time. I don’t want to make it a habit, sharing our common room with students from other houses.” He added before leaving a rather confused looking Aiba to hurriedly get changed.

“Sho-chan? Matsujun?” Aiba bounced down the staircase.
“Yo Aiba!” Sho replied cheerfully.
“Nice place you got here. Bit too bright though.” Matsujun wriggled his nose as he looked around the red and gold walls.
“…anyway - Merry Christmas Aiba-chan!” Sho ignored Matsujun’s comment and gave Aiba a warm hug. “Open your presents and then we’ll go for breakfast.”
“I’ve got presents?!” Aiba spun around to look at the small pile of neatly wrapped gifts addressed to him in the centre of the room.
“Duh.” Matsujun sat down on the sofa. “Just get on and open them, I’ve starving.”

Aiba grinned; overjoyed at having presents he sat himself down next to the heap and began to unwrap. An expensive looking pair of sunglasses from Matsujun. A book on the magical properties of lion hair from Sho-chan. Self-drawn portrait of himself from Ohno. Half a golden cauldron from Nino. A colour-changing sweatshirt from the Domoto brothers. A book on the best Quidditch matches in history from Yamapi. A pocket-sized wizard’s chess set from Yokoyu. Even Sakamoto had wrapped up some homemade chocolates for him. Best of all was Tackey’s gift though. A brand new broom, all shiny and polished.

“There’s still one more parcel.” Matsujun kicked a package gently with his foot out from underneath the sofa where it had slide across too. Aiba read the label out loud. “You’re father left this in my possession before he died; it’s time it was returned to you. Use it well.” There was no name. Curiously Aiba opened the tightly wrapped parcel. It was a cloak, of some sort. A rather odd looking cloak, kind of semi-transparent. Aiba frowned.
“Go on then, try it on!” Sho urged him, one of Sakamoto’s chocolates in his mouth. Aiba swung the cloak around his shoulders and wrapped it around his body. In the instance that his body touched the silk fabric, he disappeared. Matsujun yelped and fell off the sofa. “OH MY GOD? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR BODY?!” Sho leapt up from the chair he was perched on.
“I dunno. It’s vanished.” Aiba felt himself, but his body was still there, he just couldn’t see it. “It’s like it’s invisible.” He gasped.
“It’s an invisibility cloak. I’ve heard of them. But they’re very rare.” Matsujun picked himself back up, studying the missing body of Aiba.
“I wonder why anyone would give it to you.” Sho muttered, eyes still wide.
“It was my father’s, apparently.” Aiba replied, pulling off the cloak to reveal his body once more. It was weird, thinking that his father had once worn this very same cloak himself.
