Yes, it's very good! I would highly recommend it. It's a musical version (from the writers of Mary Poppins) of Cinderella with costumes by the great Jean Hunnisett. It was one of the first films I saw as a little girl and one of the reasons I became enamored of historical costuming and am here today. :>
The music is fun too, very witty. Similar in style to 1776 or The Scarlet Pimpernel musicals, if you've ever heard those.
I love The Scarlet Pimpernel musical! My first "historical" costume was based on one of Marguerite's dresses. It's really awful now that I look at it. I may have to post some pics of it so we can all have a good laugh.
Hi there. I'm an amateur costume historian, although not a seamstress. I found your journal through elegant's friends list. I was wondering what film these images are from. I'm always on the lookout for more flims to add to my collection -- currently my favorite historical one is Wives and Daughters. :)
The images are from L’Anglaise et le Duc or The Lady and the Duke. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear in my entry. It's one of my most favorite costume films. If you care to, you can read my review of it here:
Yeah, not being in the habit of reading the credits that roll by at the end of films, I didn't realize it until a couple of years ago when joysdaughter mentioned the fact. Sure enough, there she is in the credits (unlike the BBC productions where she really isn’t mentioned). No wonder I liked Hunnisett's books so much!! :>

I've never seen The Slipper and the Rose. Is it good? It looks interesting.

Yeah I like W&D too, although I must admit it's not one of my favorite periods of fashion history. I did make a version of Cynthia's ball gown last year though, which was a fun project. :>
