R's choice for holiday cookie was Sand Tarts, using the recipe on Martha Stewart's website.

I don't think he had any problems making these cookies, although I napped through the whole process, so what do I know.  :)    He did add more almonds to more accurately portray a sand dollar.   (The photo on the website had too few.)

We decided to make holiday cookies this weekend.  My choice was to try Lime Meltaways per the recipe on Martha Stewart's website.

The main problem I had was shaping the dough into a perfectly shaped roll with a 1.25 inch diameter.  The recipe states one should roll the dough between two pieces of parchment paper to achieve this.  I couldn't figure ( Read more... )

Found an easy chicken recipe on the epicurious.com.  I cooked the chicken on a frying pan, which eliminated the need for the extra marinade (the chicken would dry out on a BBQ, but not so much on a frying pan, especially if the chicken is dripping in marinade when you add it to the pan).   I skipped the mint, because we didn't have any in the house ( Read more... )

When needing to boil water in a pot for rice, pasta, whatever...   it's a lot quicker to fill an electric kettle with water and get the water boiling that way, than to boil the water directly in the pot.
