The crossposting features in DW are fairly useful. You can post to your DW account and tell it to crosspost elsewhere (LJ, for example). The tags go a bit dodgy at times, but if LJ is your primary outlet, and DW is the 'backup', then it doesn't matter if the tags are off in the secondary journal.

I use LJ archive because it captures the comments as well, but it keeps it in that format, so your copy may not age well as systems eveolve. There's a "print as pdf" option, but jiminy seven years, and half my posts are inane. The LJ FAQs have a list of options.
Re 6: I didn't bother learning the cut tag, but rather I always use the rich text editor. There's a button for it there. One thing to note, DW tends to get a bit banjaxy when it comes to formatted text behind a cut. If you've got something bold, say, something about the cut makes all of the text appear bold. It's odd.
I did that, and it'd be really helpful but I think I netted some folks I don't know, yeah.
Also, I then had to go in and scrub out all the openid and lj versions of folks who moved to DW ages ago, because I did it backward, linked everyone I found, then imported. But that's user error, not a fault of the tool.
(I had to edit this post twice to make the accounts be LJ ones. this is going to get old real fast. On the other hand, eventually it's be second hand. I catch myself fairly regularly using less than i greater than in emails or other writing. Sigh.)
Even though I've got a DW account now, my primary posting is still over here at LJ, so you may want to run a feed for my LJ journal. I'll eventually see about importing and crossposting and all that, but right now life has so many other things that need to be addressed that it isn't a big priority.

I need to figure out how to back up my LJ, too. There's gotta be a tool for that...
