Specifically livejournal and email, in this case. Disasters such as bridges over the Mississippi collapsing in the place you grew up must have been infinitely more scary before. I had dinner with draconline last night, as she was in town for her internship (Bandar was delicious, thanks go to chenoameg for recommending it); it was lovely to see her. Wow, that's really terrible. I'm glad all your folks are okay, though.

*hug* i'm glad your family's ok. have you heard from most/all of your friends in the area?

i haven't figured out any way to justify driving to San Diego in Matilda this weekend -- gas alone looks like it'd run $300. *sigh*

My Ebay account got hit too, just a few days ago! I was lucky and caught it quick - the scammers were about an hour away from costing me a couple thousand bucks!! I was incredibly thankful that the Ebay folks helped me instantly. The scammers had changed my password, which tipped me off, then when I checked the email account associated with my Ebay, I had a 30 messages about purchases! Good luck getting it fixed - I hope it goes as smoothly for you as it did for me.

As for the Minnesota mess... I'm still stunned. (That is the home office of the national company I work for.) Maybe this will be a wakeup call to the rest of the country so that other structures are checked.

wow. i'm very glad to hear your mother was all right; that must have been terrifying when she found out what had happened. and indeed hooray for email and the internet in general; i can only imagine how much more oversaturated phone service would have been otherwise. (one of the websites even specifically asked people not to call numbers in the 612 and 651 area codes unless absolutely necessary...)

I'm so glad to hear that your family is okay--it's very scary to think about your mom missing the disaster by such a narrow squeak. I thought about your brothers right away when I heard the news, too, since it all happened so close to the U of M.

And I do hope that your fraudulent messes sort themselves out soon. Bleah, what a hassle.
