For the second... I've read that what kids eat has something to do with moving their development faster or slower.

I vaguely remember a news article linking high fat foods to early puberty. *shrugs* also possiblity: hormone cremes, tainted water supply....

Though girls mature faster than boys....Nine is a bit early.
