Neodrama: [read: tl;dr *
skip*]
So one of the reasons Neopets is so addicting is there's always something new to do. Even when there's no news, it's possible to find goals, little self-challenges that are otherwise meaningless but hey, I wanna see if I can do it anyway--potentially dangerous in my "gotta finish what I start" mindset of late =|
A couple of weeks ago, I found the
Wearables preview app on JN, and that inadvertently put me on a mission. They were missing "models" for a number of items I had, but I was missing the pets they needed.
So I started looking for pets.
If you're not familiar with anything Neo, good for you =( Anyway, I am "allowed" one main and four side accounts, meaning I can have four pets on each = 20 pets. Given 54 different species, that's not nearly enough. My dilemma is actually keeping the pets I want while still being able to cycle them out as needed, i.e. putting one I don't want anymore in the Pound and finding a new one [usually basic red/yellow/green/blue common pet but OCCASIONALLY a limited-edition or "painted" one, though I tend to grab the basics with the worst names for zapping*] especially when my "Lab Ray pet" fails to zap into something I need.
Complicating things iswas that I had three "UCs"**, which can't model anything but aren't worth getting rid of because UCs cannot be created anymore and, if nothing else, are good for trading up. So, when I look at which pets I really want to keep, that only leaves six slots IF I traded away the ones I only sort of like but am holding onto because.
I really only need one slot per account for trading out, but I have limited ability to move pets around, plus trying to balance which pets are on what accounts with what NC items [which can't be moved without paying real money--no, I'm serious]. But that's been my game as of late, and it's taking a long time to do. That's even without actively seeking out new items to model--most of which are NC items 9_9
*zapping: Using the Secret Laboratory Ray to, once a day, perform a random action on a pet. Usually some form of stat change, like +Strength, +/-Defence, +HP, +/-Level, +Movement, but also sex change, species change [always to a basic colour], colour change. Regularly nothing at all.
**unconverted: When Customisation was first introduced, only a small number of pets were allowed to retain their original static, uncustomisable artwork due to the drastic style change; for instance, the
Darigan Eyrie and
Mutant Scorchio. I also had a Darigan Tonu, but when I didn't have the patience to hold out for a Krawk [got rejected for a Pirate Draik], it became good "overoffering"*** for the Chomby I wanted =D
***overoffering: Offering UC Darigan Tonu for basic-coloured Chomby 9_9 That is, something no longer attainable for something easily acquired. But I normally do that in trades, because the goal is more important than the value [or, the REAL value is in achieving the goal]. Which is where the aforementioned "Neodrama" comes into play, because publicly overoffering a no-longer-available pet for something relatively easy to acquire tends to piss people off, especially the ones complaining that I should "know its value"--yes, I'm aware of the "value" of various pets, but I value being able to do something in a foreseeable timespan =|
[also really stopped caring about it, despite investing a Darigan Paint Brush into it in the first place]
Anyway, job hunt is kinda crap. Neither temp agency is calling/replying, which means I apparently actually need to pick a job from their site [which is dubious, since they're all minimally-described and if I'm not having luck picking non-temp jobs I'm qualified to do, how will I do any better on their sites?], and I'm only getting responses from these insurance companies who want salesmen. I mean, I guess I could actually go to the temp agency like I've said I need to do but haven't 'cause I didn't have to do that in the first place, but maybe that was just how the one lady who's not working at Sparks anymore did things and going out is how to get their attention.
UGH, I hate looking for a job. Even another fucking factory job might be preferable to this runaround, but I didn't see anything like that. [Maybe they've all been outsourced?]
Actually, I keep hesitating on these dog-walker positions I see. That might be fun, but it also might backfire, since I don't "love" love dogs, but they're cool in moderation. Is that a talk-myself-into-it-'cause-at-least-it's-work deal? =| At least I have a contract project on my plate, but it's basically equal to three days of work at my last job and will take about as long. I like it, but it's definitely not going to last T_T
