Merlin Rare Pairs fest

Jan 04, 2014 13:58

So, there's this Merlin Rare Pairs fest happening soon and I am thinking I'd like to participate.  Fanworks need to be new.  Anyone want to write (or co-write) a Mordred/X with me for me to pod? :D

In other news, so fucking busy this weekend. No internet time until tomorrow, probably, despite great connectivity:D

Monday the kids go back to school ( Read more... )

I want to talk about people's experiences on different platforms and how fandom is different on Tumblr vs Twitter vs LJ/DW.
That should be interesting! :D

I guess a 'Snowflake Challenge' has nothing to do with the Snowpocalypse happening 'over at yours' at the moment, right? It's probably something fannish (a meme, perhaps)?

I couldn't be more grateful for NO SNOW around here atm. Temperatures are still above 0°, I'd be the happiest girl if it stayed that way all winter. *fingers crossed*

Well, here's hoping people might start talking about it here! I do wonder about all the people crying about the lack of activity on LJ, but then not doing anything about it?

I have found Twitter to be VERY easy to use on the phone and if phone was my main internet gateway, Twitter would be it for me. Other platforms are MUCH better on the computer, but LJ takes spoons that I don't always have. Or just time. Tumblr is easy the same way watching waves is easy, but very frustrating for actual communication. I have someone I can talk to about Eureka, but she only uses Tumblr and I'M DYING. It's not intense enough for me!

LOL. Snowflake Challenge is a fannish thing. Prompts every day for the first two weeks of Jan.

YAY for NO SNOW! I mean, snow is good, but it's sure a pain to deal with.

♥ ♥ ♥ Thanks for mentioning the rarepair fest. I think I'm going to do it!

Somehow I never 'learned' how to use my LJ for anything but posting Merlin related stuff. Now that the show is no more and news about the actors have become rare, I post much less than I used to. For a while I posted about Teen Wolf last year but there wasn't much interest (understandable when most people used to come for Merlin stuff), so I stopped.
I've never felt much like posting about the other shows I watch and now that most people have left LJ it's too late to think about other topics than Merlin to talk about. So I'm probably not entitled to any whining because I don't really do anything to revive LJ. On the other hand I think it's too late for that anyway ( ... )

Meh. I don't think I know how to use it properly. It seems to work best for me when I post my dumb to do lists that I'm sure no one else could possibly be interested in.

I feel like Merlin fandom was strongly entrenched on LJ, but TW seems to be much more scattered (not that I really know because I am not at all part of that fandom).

do you think people have drifted away from fandom, or they are interacting on other platforms?

I definitely prefer the computer for EVERYTHING, but Twitter is the least painful social networking platform to use on my phone. Even email is worse than Twitter on my phone. Partly this is due to my crappy eyes and my farsightedness.

LOL. You are cute.

Why would you see snow at the biathlon? Do they ski?

Well, not really. Did you have something that strikes your fancy? I could totally go for a Mordred/Kara story :D ( ... )

How'd you even meet the people on tumblr? On all platforms, the people I follow are ones I already knew from LJ. As far individuals go and not things like fuckyeah...whatever on tumblr. I think there some additional people I follow on Twitter who were friends of my friends.

I've never asked anyone anything on tumblr. I put out fandom-specific comments or questions with fandom tags. I follow more than 50 tumbles and I'm often adding new ones as I gain new interests.

So, one of the people was someone I met through AO3 and everyone else I "talk" to I met there on Tumblr. Through the ask box, I guess? And some reblogging. One person popped up when I asked if there were any Eureka fans. I seriously really only talk to three people on Tumblr, and I follow about 50.

Do you post things that people can answer? The only way I've found to do this is to post a text entry with a question at the end. Occasionally someone will answer one of those.
