So, there's this
Merlin Rare Pairs fest happening soon and I am thinking I'd like to participate. Fanworks need to be new. Anyone want to write (or co-write) a Mordred/X with me for me to pod? :D
In other news, so fucking busy this weekend. No internet time until tomorrow, probably, despite great connectivity:D
Monday the kids go back to school

I've never felt much like posting about the other shows I watch and now that most people have left LJ it's too late to think about other topics than Merlin to talk about. So I'm probably not entitled to any whining because I don't really do anything to revive LJ. On the other hand I think it's too late for that anyway. :(
I like Twitter a lot, it's my favourite social media tool that enables me to keep in contact with my fandom friends. I got a new phone for my birthday and I found a nice Twitter app but I don't see myself tweeting from my phone from now on. I may use Twitter on my phone occasionally to check something (or tweet a picture) but for now I'll mainly use Twitter on my computer.
Ah, thanks for the link to the challenge. That's not for me. Neither do I create stuff I could rec nor would I know what stranger to introduce myself to. I DON'T KNOW ANY PEOPLE I DON'T KNOW. :P Ugh, I fail at fannish things.
F***k snow, I don't want to see a single snow flake all year (apart from maybe on my screen when I watch biathlon).

I feel like Merlin fandom was strongly entrenched on LJ, but TW seems to be much more scattered (not that I really know because I am not at all part of that fandom).
do you think people have drifted away from fandom, or they are interacting on other platforms?
I definitely prefer the computer for EVERYTHING, but Twitter is the least painful social networking platform to use on my phone. Even email is worse than Twitter on my phone. Partly this is due to my crappy eyes and my farsightedness.
LOL. You are cute.
Why would you see snow at the biathlon? Do they ski?

I think some have simply drifted away (to focus on rl mostly) and others (the majority from what I can tell) simply switched over to Twitter and Tumblr. I guess many use a combination of T & T: for fandom squee-age (Tumblr) and to keep in contact with fellow fandom friends (Twitter). And those who're also writers and/or artists still have fests to interact with others. They often do writing sprints together, hang out in writerly chats or whatnot. As a non!writer/artist you don't have access to that part of fandom though (didn't even before LJ died).
IDK, I'm probably just especially awkward when it comes to fandom interaction. I don't really know how to talk to people I don't know, and now there aren't even opportunities to talk to/get to know new people because all the communities are dead. On top of that my Twitter is locked and I only follow/let follow people I know from LJ. I haven't added any new people to my TL in over a year because I've simply not 'met' any new people.
Every few months I think a Twitter friending meme would be a good thing (and in the end I'd sure as hell chicken out on participating because I'm fandom!socially awkward and don't know how to do a friending meme :P) but since LJ's dead it wouldn't work anyway. No one left to participate! #tumbleweed
Biathlon (the winter sports) combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting and the German teams (guys and girls) are pretty good at it. It's thrilling because they have to be fast (skiiing) and have to hit all the targets (shooting). If they miss during shooting there are penalty loops (or time is added) and things can change in the blink of an eye. My favourite thing are the relay competitions, eeeek! :D Biathlon's one of the few things (apart from the sledding events like luge or bobsleigh and maybe figure skating) I'm looking forward to watch during the Winter Olympics. :)
