They sound like admirable plans and I'm sure you'll have a great year
I wonder if it's tumblr that has affected the feeling of community in fandom, it's such a strange disconnect, (not to mention it feels full of such young people) Crane is such an interesting character isn't he ? And I totally feel your love for Nicole! She'd just totally gorgeous and amazing
I should do a post on Tumblr/Twitter/LJ/DW and see what other people think as well. I hear a lot of discontent with the way Tumblr functions for fannish interactions.
CRANE! Gah. He is so fucking attractive. It's unfair. Nicole Beharie is the bee's knees. She is amazing.
That would be interesting to see (I should go and look to see if anybody else has talked about it) It seems to be more observing then interacting.
Not only are Tom and Nicole so attractive and amazing, they are so sweet together, and say the best things about each other (I'm not shipping them or anything, I just love them together as best mates - both in and out of character!)
Balance is a great goal, I hope you'll achieve it. ♥
To me it seems like fandom has become a Tumblr!only thing (with very, very, very few exceptions - not counting fic posts into this btw) and that's just not really my thing. I don't want to spend endless time on Tumblr, I'm not interested in scrolling through thousand pages of pics (no matter how pretty). It's all too fast and somewhat shallow, more quantity than quality. I can't deal with it, I don't know people over there and you can't talk to anyone properly.
LJ's pretty much dead these days, most people have left entirely, others only post every few weeks/months. I still read a lot of fanfic but overall I feel disconnected from fandom. If it wasn't for my Twitter timeline I wouldn't know where to talk about fannish things anymore. :/
I love tumblr for fandoms I'm not deeply engaged in or when my spoons are low but it does really suck for actual conversation and connection. I still prefer lj/dw but it's hard to feel invested here when it's all tumbleweeds. :( *clings to you*
I really enjoyed this post. I like how you're willing to share how you're approaching the new year, because it's helping me think about my own relationship to fandoms and fannish activities. However you decide to proceed, I hope this year brings you unimaginable blessings.
Thank you! I find my relationship to fanning activities complicated. I love the immersive experience but don't like being a ghost in my own house. On the other hand fandom is another natural antidepressant for me so it's good for me to be engaged at some level. I'm glad you find some of my blitherings useful. Hope you have a great year!

EEEE. They are really great on screen and off together. I agree! I love how sassy she is with him offscreen, well, and on screen too:D
I totally agree, by the way. I'm all about them as a BROTP. I won't be surprised if they hook up after three seasons. Or seven if they last that long.
