Lovely photoset is lovely! How I miss seeing new photos of them being them together.

Perfect article is perfect! This is why there are certain fests I do not do. I have to say NO, in order to do justice to the one's I've chosen to create for. If an idea happens to assert itself strongly enough (ahem, perverse!bang, lol), then I'll let it happen, but otherwise mostly my answer has to be No. Groceries to get, family to take care of, sleep to sleep, which doesn't leave much time to draw. :D

Boys! Aren't they so cute? Thank god archaelogist_d is still doing picspams from time to time.

\o/! I had a period of time where I said no to everything. I was really depressed and barely functional. It took me a couple years before I started saying yes again. I think I need to say no a little more. I want to do everything! ARgh.

Yeah. I thought the article was very interesting. Time for me to start saying no again, I think.

I was thinking recently that I chose a relationship/family over everything else more than 15 years ago. I think in another 10 years, if I want, I can start to focus on things other than my kids, but yeah, in the meantime I am not going to be famous/extolled/whatever.

Someone else suggested that I might be in recharging mode. Maybe so.

:) No worries on the Star Trek commentary. I only expected two people to be interested, maybe three.

Heee! I was just writing up a comment about how it's a balancing act. Definitely! I feel that when my kids leave home, then I'll really be able to be more selfish, but in the meantime, I want to be available for my kids and husband.

For now I'll have to content myself with what I can accomplish in the cracks because I know I would not be content without my family.

I'm curious what you do at these family meetings.

What movie are you seeing tomorrow?

I just need to sit and write, don't I? This is correct.

I probably saw Wrath of Khan but I don't remember anything about it if I did. In one still I saw, Uhura was wearing a dress and that irked me. Seems silly.

Next time you are here, I can show you all the stuff, but it's based on Jane Nelsen's Positive Discipline book.

Going to see 42 which is about Jackie Robinson.

Ugh. You saw the results of the last time I tried to sit and write.

LOL. This is my problem too. I don't remember anything about Wrath of Khan except that Ricardo Montalban was in it, he was fabulous and terrifying.

Oh, I kept thinking, what the hell, why are these women wearing short skirts? Even the military doesn't have women wear skirts any more.

Ok, that first bit you quoted definitely hit me in the way you said. I know that collaboration is really important for me, but there is also a balance that's important to me.

I think the "no" is actually about making sure that I'm able to meet my priorities (family) and self-care. I know that devoting myself solely to others just makes me depressed, but I also have to be careful about how much I attempt to take on. :D

I think "creative" in this article could just apply to anything that someone focuses on intently, as you point out.
