My initial thought process was of three prompts for three different ficlets, but it's kinda awesome (and probably much more difficult) to see them all incorporated into one. I hadn't even thought of that! :D

No no! Fabric stores are LOVELY. Especially when one needs more fabric.:D I have to buy some fabric for the "fields" for the dragon quilt.

One question: did you mean to say he "tastes the bitter cup of loss" or he "tastes from the bitter cup of loss"? That's such a great image. Very rich drabble.
