A grey day

Prompt from the writing community this week is:

I thought for this week we could play with microfics. Write a six word fic. Or a three sentence fic (which if you are like Faulkner could be a lot of words), or a drabble:D

If you want more to think about, consider writing a character you don't normally write. Or a minor character who is overlooked. I ( Read more... )

Hunith: family
Balinor: responsibility
Kanan: snow
Alice: beauty
Tristan: children
Grettir: chance

You don't need to answer all of them. Just a couple of suggestions. Maybe one or the other will tickle your fancy.

Of course you can give me some prompts. I can't promise anything though.

P.S.: fabric stores are evil! They always swallow my money wholeheartedly;)

Heee. Ok. Shew. I'm glad there's no pressure there. Feel free to take some of these yourself too!

No no! Fabric stores are LOVELY. Especially when one needs more fabric.:D I have to buy some fabric for the "fields" for the dragon quilt.

*cough* I may have gotten a little OCD. I've worked with all your prompts:D

Wow... some wonderful ideas here. I can't say which one I loved more. They were all so strong. Well done!

The Kanan one is interesting because I don't read it as negative. A heart of ice might be pure evil but snow has so many different forms that it's a really amivalent picture you draw with this one sentence.

Of course, throw one prompt at me (or ten:)

Oooh, glad they worked for you. Thanks for the prompts. They were fun to play with. I especially liked the Hunith/Balinor one. I love Balinor. He's so strong and quiet.

0.o. about Kanan. Interesting. I saw it as devoid of humanity, warmth, sympathy. Snow can be beautiful, but can also be suffocating. Almost makes me feel like I should do a followup. I haven't thought about Kanan at all.

OK: prompts for you:

Leon: snuggle
Elyan: food
Percival: journey

Exactly "snow" opens up so many different interpretations - from pure evil to cold but not heartless.

Thanks for the prompts. Will see what I can do.

Here we go, mistakes and everything:

Leon: snuggle

Leon pressed himself closer against him, enjoyed the warmth and steady breathing of his lover. He was the only one who knew his deepest secret. Leon loved to snuggle.

Elyan: food

The taste made him smile, brought him right back to a time without sorrow and grief. His eyes wandered to Gwen who dished out the soup to the others. But he was the only one who didn’t only get food but a glimpse of his past.

Percival: journey

Sometimes he wondered if this was all. If his time with the knights would be the only adventure in his life. Little did he know that his journey had just begun.

These were nicely done, esp. the Percival one.

Ooops, I forgot to comment on these.

Hee hee. Leon is so cute and secretive. Love how the food has double meaning for Elyan and Percival's seems like the beginning of a great story. What's his journey about, do you think?

Hard to say after they changed up canon so much. They only keep the skeleton of the athurian legend. So if we go after that Percival starts his quest for the Holy Grail. I don't know if they explore that route though because the Percival we get in "Merlin" isn't very religious or seems to believe in anything more than the others. On the contrary he's shown as a rough guy with a golden heart (and without sleeves;)
If they tell about him I'm sure they tie it to magic somehow (or a new form of believe). Christianity didn't play any role in "Merlin" so far.

Ah, Percival went after the Holy Grail. I wonder if they will be afraid to touch that story.

Yeah, I was wondering if the Cup of Life was meant to represent the Holy Grail.

I'm just figuring that story is too sensitive religiously for them to want to touch since they've done nothing religious, really.
