When does DH normally come home and when do you normally eat? Does DH go to work super-early? Will left work at 5:30pm tonight which is when he's supposed to leave, but it almost NEVER happens. Leaving 6-6:15pm is more common, and it's a 15-20min commute. We usually eat at 6pm, so the girls and I eat without him. Having Daddy join us for dinner was a nice treat.

Why was DD1 at school so early today? And DD2 takes a morning nap? Our girls stuck to afternoon naps (after the morning naps were abandoned around 15-18ish months); at home we put Two down at 1:30pm. At preschool it's usually 1:45-2pmish.

What sort of dances do they do at a family dance?

Hee! So the mailman just knocked on your door and asked to use your microwave? I should've thought to put out a Thermos of hot chocolate or something for ours. Brrr!

He usually comes home by 5:15. He leaves for work at 7:30; I don't consider that super early ( ... )

Eh, 7:30 is early enough. Will leaves around 8am. In summer, though, his day is extended on both sides, because they get Fridays off.

Why on EARTH would a half-day kindergarten program need to be additionally halved once a week? There's hardly any point in going! Is there a constant inservice or something?

The preschool teachers try to keep naptime to about an hour so parents don't complain that their kids won't go to bed at night. However, at home Two usually goes for closer to 90 mins. Or, at least, she needs that lengthier nap a few times a week. She can go with much less if the schedule requires it, and it's nice to have that flexibility now, but it's still generally better for her to get the minimum hour.

Don't get me started on the school day. The county is 70% full day K. We're one of the lucky few (I think only 12 schools are not full day K). Clearly, they did not have half day K in mind when they lobbied for this crappy schedule. The teachers say that need that extra two hours to work.

I hate that my day is full of mini-sized bites.

Trade you? I had my 2-1/2 hour senior seminar today.

You normally eat dinner before 6? *faints* I feel we're doing well if we eat by 7:30. Yikes.

Um, no deal. I would not trade anything (at this point) for having to be in a seminar for 3 hours!

Given that we try to be doing the last stuff for bedtime at 7:30, that dinnertime would not work for us:P 6 is a somewhat late dinner for us, although not unheard of. It's better for there to be time for the girls to play with their dad after dinner than before.

Oh, I understand. We ate at about 6 when I was little for just that reason. It simply seems to be impossible for SO and me to manage it!

When I was working afternoons/evenings, we ate late too. In fact, we always ate late-ish, until we had kids:)

When I was a kid, we ate at 5:30 or six, but as we got older, it drifted more towards 7 or 7:30.
