- dragged self out of bed at 8:30 (oops)
- got showered, dressed, and breakfasted
- barely managed to get DD1 out the door in time for school at 10:30
- drove DD2 around for half an hour for her to fall asleep (argh!)
- came home and ate lunch and futzed around on computer
- spent a few minutes downstairs trying to figure out if I had enough baby flannel for the back of the witch quilt
- woke up DD2 from nap and went and got DD1 where I broke the news to her that her playdate was happening at our house
- took girls to library to get another Barney movie for consolation
- came home and fixed girls noodles
- heated up postman's lunch (I get such a kick out of this! This is the only time he's ever asked; I think it's because it was 20 degrees out today!)
- futzed around some more
- playdate arrived and I cut up apples for girls
- I started cooking artichokes, which were delicious in the end (recipe to follow in another post)
- took girls to dance class
- dropped of playdates stuff at her house
- came home and hung with DD2 for half an hour (we watched some of Mary Poppins:))
- went back out and got DD1
- came home and prepped dinner
- fixed a burrito for girls to share
- got cranky because DH wasn't home at 5:15, or 5:20, or 5:30. He finally came in at 5:45.
- cooked fish, cream sauce, and artichokes
- finally ate dinner! (Hey, 6 is late for us to eat dinner.)
- tried to take a break during which time DD2 managed to stack two glasses with the end result being that one broke:(
- got girls to bed
- used neti pot
- re-put DD2 to bed after she got up due to coughing fit:(
- had cup of tea
- played some scrabble
Ok, that looks like a lot, but really what I feel matters is that I cooked artichokes, fish and cream sauce. Bleh. I hate that my day is full of mini-sized bites. I loved this weekend where I spent two hours working on the border of the quilt.
The weekend was good. I enjoyed the religious service on Saturday and yesterday, the dancing was fine. The family dance was really good. Both girls danced a lot for them. DD2 danced three dances (a personal record for her:)) and then she pooped out. She ended up falling asleep for half an hour in the second half. And DD1 danced almost all the dances which was really good considering she usually would only dance for about an hour (in a two hour dance).
We raced home and got everyone fed, I picked up the sitter, and then we raced out the door to dance at Glen Echo. It was freezing, but so worth it. The music was old-timey (not our favorite), but it had good energy and people were having a good time. And the dances were quite good. Plus, it was nice to be dancing an hour earlier. I danced all the dances save two (that we were there for). I just got too tired at the end (and hungry, oddly enough). And the girls did well with the sitter putting them to bed, so that was nice too.
