On New Year's Resolutions

My grandpa, who just turned 87, said to me as I was driving him home on Christmas Day: "Well, I guess I'll make it 'til next Christmas, or die trying." He may be losing his mind, but he still has a sense of humor. It's a worthy resolution for all of us.

Goals are good.

I like your Grandfather's attitude. My last trip home including my P grandparents happily explaining property division in case of their death. It's nice to have it clearly laid out, but sad to release they expect it soon (Grandma had cancer this summer, and Grandpa found out he has lung issues).

My grandpa has always sort of enjoyed talking about his own death. He also kept telling me not to bring my parents' dog to his funeral because the dog (a rather large collie) might make off with his body when no one was looking. He is only half-kidding when he says these things. I think they keep him up at night.
