This is absolute bullshit. If there is THIS LITTLE STORY left to tell that we have THIS much time to lie around jerking off like this? Then this show is doomed. There is no good payoff, if we have time to fuck around for four or five weeks.
FIVE weeks. It's been FIVE weeks. And YES YES YES to everything else you said, especially about Becky. I've never been to a con either, but I'd suspect that very few attendees (who, by the way, pay an awful lot of money to be there) show up in frumpy schoolgirl jumpers and kneesocks.
uhm, i dont mean to really interrupt so excuse me but i've been to several cons and while there are many 'normal' people about, becky isnt really all that out of character either...seriously...believe me on that one!
Well then I guess that's all the SPN people see when they go to the cons or at least, all they pay attention to. Really, I just want them to drop the whole fandom meta shit altogether. Enough already.
I thought 5x04 was a let down, if still a decent ep, but since then I've been nothing but disappointed. The only episode that's been vaguely decent as of lately was last week's, and even that would have been FAR better had they bothered to juxtapose it against more serious episodes. I fell for Supernatural because of the family drama and then because of the nifty plot with asshole angels and intriguing demons. Why can't we go back to that? Why do they have to waste all their time on crap like this?

ITA. It's like the show writers are acting like they've discovered all this fan stuff for the first time, not only that, like they're the first show writers who have discovered it at all, and can't stop talking about it. But even that's not the case - they discovered it YEARS ago. So why all the meta now, except to make episodes full of lazy meta jokes and filler?
I'm beginning to wonder if Kripke already has a heads-up about a sixth season - which seems a decent possibility given that SPN is still one of the netlet's top-rated shows. It's the only logical explanation I can fathom for why they are wasting so much time on filler! Episodes 1-4 were terrific because they were heavily focused on the arc. Last week's episode was strong too because it had it all - humor, angst, and most importantly, mytharc with big mytharc reveals.
Episodes 5, 6, 7, and 9 have been throw-aways - and even the antichrist story was weak with bad season one characterizations and written like filler.
At this point I'm thinking we'd better get a sixth season, or I'm going to be really pissed at the wasted opportunities.
