Riley had a rough day

Dec 02, 2013 19:40

When I got up this morning I noticed that Riley was in and out of the litterbox. He must have gone in and squatted at least a dozen times in an hour and a half. I figured it was a bladder infection. The problem was the vet clinic doesn't open until 8:30 a.m. and this was two hours earlier. He didn't seem to be in pain, just a bit uncomfortable, so ( Read more... )

Poor baby! I hope he feels better. What do you give him for UTI food?

(He's one gorgeous kitty!)

He's still a bit obsessed with the litterbox, so he could still be in some pain/discomfort. Otherwise, he's eating more. I just came home early from work and fed them. He ate a bit more than usual of the canned food. There are plumbing problems in the boiler room, everything is shut down, so may have to go back late in the day.

I got him the same Royal Canin Urinary whatever food Charlie was on a while back. He seems to like it. Whew! I gave him his pain meds. He didn't fight me very hard. I always have better luck giving cats pain meds than any other kind of drugs. They must sense that it will help them.

(He really is!)

Lots of hugs to Riley, hoping he's feeling much better now. :)

He's a very cuddly, huggable cat. Kind of like a big teddy bear. He is feeling quite a bit better. Ran around the house for a while and now he's having a nap. :)

Aw, poor baby! I hope Riley's feeling better by now. I've heard that UTIs aren't uncommon in male cats as they get older, and I'm all paranoid that Christopher is going to get one. I'm sure he appreciates my hovering around his litter box at odd times checking up on him.*G*

Glad your babies are all snug and warm and tucked away from the winter, and I hope you have a chance to stay indoors & warm too!

Riley is still using the litterbox frequently. Talked to the vet yesterday and she said he'll keep doing that for another couple of days after his last dose of Metacam, which was yesterday. Otherwise he behaves normally. Yeah, as long as cats get lots of water they should be less susceptible to UTIs. Riley is only five, and Charlie had one last year at age four. George (female) had one at age one. Stress can bring them on, too, and that explains George's bout with it. She freaked when she met Riley. Something about him terrified her. She still doesn't like him.

Yes, undoubtedly Christopher enjoys you policing his litterbox. ;-)

I hate staying inside, cold weather or hot, but always prefer warm and sunny to freeze where you stand and windy type of weather. Roxy wanted out for her daily constitutional yesterday, stuck her nose out the door, and then turned and ran for the bedroom. *g*
