Riley had a rough day

When I got up this morning I noticed that Riley was in and out of the litterbox. He must have gone in and squatted at least a dozen times in an hour and a half. I figured it was a bladder infection. The problem was the vet clinic doesn't open until 8:30 a.m. and this was two hours earlier. He didn't seem to be in pain, just a bit uncomfortable, so I went to work and came home on my coffee break, and then took him to the vet.

Dr. T examined him and said to leave him at the clinic and she'd try to get a urine sample. She phoned me at work later in the morning. She had to knock him out but she got the sample along with some blood. His bladder was inflamed, with a bit of sediment in there.

So he's now on UTI food. Again. Actually, it was Charlie who was on it for a while...last year, maybe the year before.

I picked him up from the clinic late this afternoon and he's now warming himself on the floor in front of the fireplace. Again.

Poor baby. He had a bad Friday and now a rotten Monday. He's still a wee bit spacey from the ketamine, but has asked for food. I gave him just a taste, since he's not really supposed to have anything for another couple of hours, in case it upsets his tummy.

He's been such a good boy. Dr. T said he sat and stared at the corner of the kennel for the longest time, which is fairly normal for cats coming out of sedation. When she petted him he tried to hide at first, and then he decided she was okay.

Just now he went back to his window and is staring at the small tree branch I set on the outside window sill. One of his favourite things to do. The branch will probably get blown off, because it's blizzarding out there. Winter's here and my cats are inside, cozy and warm. :)
