In the past:
one two three four “Honey, I’m home.” Jae said as he entered the house. I was in the kitchen, boiling dinner.
“You're just in time for hot dogs.” I called back. He entered the kitchen, slinked up to me, and wrapped his arms around my waist. I returned the gesture.
“Good, because I’ve been having this craving for hot dogs like you wouldn’t believe.” I laughed, and then I kissed him.
“Wanna know what I have a craving for?” I smiled and kissed him again, making my point.
We heard a bedroom door shut and an “Oh geez”. We looked over at the same time, and saw Junsu and Yoochun in the doorway. Jaejoong tried to jump out of my arms, but I held him to me tightly.
“It’s okay, he knows.” I said in the softest voice I could manage. Jaejoong just stared at me, wide eyed. I realized that it was a good thing that it was me, who entered the house this afternoon, and not Jae. Jae can be a bit dramatic sometimes, you know.
“WHAT?!”
“Should we leave you two alone, cause I think we should?” Junsu asked from the doorway.
“Just give us five minutes, guys, thanks.” I said, and they walked away. I looked back at Jae. I knew he was going to explode if I didn’t do something quick.
“Okay, I can explain....”
“But, Yunho, that was...”
“I know, the new kid, Micky Yoochun, yeah, he knows about us, well, about everything...”
“EVERYTHING!... what do you mean “everything”?”
“If you stop interrupting, then I can continue explaining...”
“WHY are YOU so CALM about this, weren’t YOU the one raving just LAST NIGHT about...”
“I know what I said last night...”
“SO, why aren’t you freaking out, and why are you holding me so tightly, AND WHY DOES HE KNOW, HOW DOES...”
“KIM JAEJOONG, will you please shut up for a minute?”
“But...”
“Jae.”
“FINE, EXPLAIN!” He huffed. I finally let him go then, since I deemed it safe to do so. I eyed the pot of boiling water for a second... he does like to throw things when he’s mad though...
“Lets go into the living room.” Before he could either agree or disagree I took his hand and led him away from the kitchen. I sat him down in the bean bag chair, and I crouched in front of him. Changmin was also in the room, but he was on the computer, so it was the same as if we had the room to ourselves.
“Okay, let me start from the beginning, before we left school, Junsu asked me if Micky could come over for a little bit, and I said it was all right.” And from there I told him everything. It took longer then five minutes. And if it weren’t for Junsu and Yoochun, we would be having hot dog soup for dinner (Cause they tended to dinner while I talked).
I thought all and all, that Yoochun had taken the story of “us” quite well. Better then our own kids did. We had decided to tell them the whole story when we were twelve, making Junsu nine and Changmin eight. Junsu, had accepted the story as is. He later asked about what, if any, media coverage there was on the car wreck. We handed over what articles we had found over the years (they didn’t say much, no names of the victims, or anything). Changmin’s reaction however....
*Memory*
“You mean, I could of had a real, well not a Mom, but a Dad and sisters and bothers too maybe... you're saying I could of had, and still do have a real normal family, somewhere... that you kidnapped me! I was kidnapped!” Wow, I never really thought of it like that. But in a way, Jae sorta did...
“What are you talking about, Minnie, we are your real family, and didn’t you hear their story, Mom saved your life, he rescued you from the crash, you should be thankful.” Junsu said.
“Min, Changmin, are you not happy with us being your family?” Jae asked.
“It’s not that, it’s just, why didn’t you hand me over to the adults, or something, after you found me?”
“B - Because we wanted you to be with us.” Jae said.
“Well did you ever think about what I would have wanted, what the dead lady that you took me from would have wanted, do you think she would have wanted to have me end up here?”
“And what’s wrong with here?!” I asked. More like yelled, yeah, I yelled it at him.
“Nothing, except I have KIDS for parents, and I have to lie to all my friends, everyday, that’s all!” I had to take a deep breath, calm down... he’s only eight... calm down. Jae looked like he was about to cry... calm down, don’t look at Jae, calm down, don’t look at Jae, calm, calm.
“I understand where you're coming from, Min, I really do, I understand that it’s not easy lying to your friends... or even dealing with the fact that Jae and I are your parents and all that, but no one’s life IS easy. Everyone has hard times, for your mother and I, its a constant struggle to raise you two the best we can, as well as taking care of ourselves. You have to deal with us being your parents, and I’m sorry you're finding it so hard to do, but that is the way your life is, and it is a fact you're going to have to just deal with.” I think I’m pretty wise for a twelve year old.
“No, Yunnie, he’s right, it was wrong for me to take him, it’s my fault he's so mad now...” Not this again.
“Jae, shut up, it’s not your fault, Changmin, I want you to go to your room, now, we’ll continue this discussion later.”
“Why can’t we talk now?”
“Because you’ve upset your mother, and I have to now fix it, that’s why, now go to your room!”
After I did indeed calm Jae down, and make him see that Changmin’s feelings WERE NOT his doing, we did go and talk with Changmin again. It seemed that now that he was over the initial shock of it all, (and it seemed that Junsu had had a “nice” talk with him before we entered his room), Changmin didn’t seem as angry about the whole thing. He apologized for the things he said, saying that he says stupid things when he is angry.
“But you still love us right?” Jae asked.
“I’ve never stopped loving you, I just... I guess I was just shocked at the fact that there are other people out there that loved me too.”
“Not as much as we love you though.” Jae said. Changmin seemed to think on this for a minute before saying.
“You know what, I think you're right about that.”
*End Memory*
I was brought out of my mental stroll down memory lane, when Jae asked me something.
**************************************
I couldn’t believe it. Even after Yunnie told me, I still couldn’t believe that Micky Yoochun knew everything. So I had to ask, “So what does he think about ...us?” Doesn’t he think it’s weird, doesn’t he want to tell the whole school about the weirdness of the Kim “brothers”. Then again, if Yunnie really told him everything, maybe it didn’t sound so weird. I mean what’s so weird about a couple of four year olds deciding to become the parents of a one year old, and an infant. I mean, they needed SOMEONE to take care of them, and we both knew what NOT to do as parents. I guess it always seemed so natural to me, becoming of the mother to/of those two. And there’s not enough time in the world for me to explain how I have always known I was meant to be with Yunnie.
“He said it was the saddest, yet most beautiful childhood story he’s ever heard, and he doesn’t think that it’s fair that we can’t be ourselves in public.” Hey, me too, and why can’t we... I know I want to.
“He’s a very smart boy.” I said instead. I knew it would be pointless to try and convince him that maybe we SHOULD act like ourselves in public. Besides, after hearing all this, I suddenly felt very tired.
“Yes he is.”
“But why is he still here?”
“He’s... staying for dinner.” For some reason Yunnie quickly looked around the room as if he was searching, or looking out for something.
“But dinner is family time.”
“It’s still family time, I mean the whole family will still be here.”
“It’s not the same, and there’s only four chairs in the kitchen.”
“You can sit in my lap.” Yeah, I could, but then I wouldn’t be interested in eating.
“It’s not the same, and we don’t have enough food for five.” He sighed, he knew I was right on that point.
“He’s keeping our secret, Jae, and he doesn’t have to.” That’s true, I wonder why he chose not to tell... I wonder if it has anything to do with that rumor saying that he likes our Xiah. I wonder if Xiah knows about that rumor.
“Fine, he can stay, but just for tonight.” Yunnie grinned when I said this.
“Oh, you're too kind, Jae, too kind.” He kidded.
“And just for that comment, Minnie will be the one who sits on your lap tonight, not me.” I stood up and headed into the kitchen, leaving a pouting Yunnie in my wake.
After a minute I heard, “Did someone say my name?” from Minnie at the computer.
It was decided that since Micky was the guest he would eat the plate of food that was left for me last night, since there was more food to that meal. It was a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup (with rice sized noodles in it), to be exact. Once all the hot dogs where done, I set the table.
“All right, dinner’s ready!” I said. Yunnie, Minnie, Xiah, and Micky came in, in that order. Yunnie held Minnie back, while the others sat down.
“You're sitting with me.” He said.
“Why?”
“Your Mom is punishing me.” I threw my fork at him... yes, I eat my hot dog with a fork, it’s not weird... Xiah does it too. Once everyone sat down, I felt it best to begin a conversation right away, so Micky would feel at ease.
“So, who’s going grocery shopping with me, tomorrow?” I asked. (I never said I planned to direct the conversation at Micky.)
“I will.” Xiah said.
“Great.” But Xiah wasn’t finished.
“Oh, umm, I was wondering...” He stopped. He looked to Micky, and Micky nodded to him. He didn’t need to ask, I already knew.
“Yes.”
“What?”
“The answer is yes, but make sure he calls his mother first.” Junsu’s face lit up.
“Thanks Mom.”
“Wait, what just happened?” Minnie asked.
“Mom’s letting Micky sleep over.” Xiah said. Minnie’s mouth dropped, as did the piece of hot dog that was in his mouth.
“Don’t you think you need to discuss that with me first?” Yunnie asked, he too seemed to be a bit confused about what just happened.
“Did you discuss with me whether, or not, we should tell Micky Yoochun our whole life story?” Yunho’s face fell. I won that one. He pouted again.
“It wasn’t our “whole” life story.” He muttered. I smirked, then he did too.
After dinner wrapped up, the boys washed the dishes, while I went to inspect their rooms. I went into Minnie’s room first. Picking up any dirty laundry, and putting things that could be deemed “clean” away. Other then that, there wasn’t much to do here. Minnie spent most of his time on the computer. I then moved on to Xiah’s room. Now his, needed cleaning. I picked up the dirty laundry and put away the clean. There were cds scattered about, and bunch of computer paper as well. I picked a piece up, and saw that it was a music sheet. A hand written music sheet. I didn’t know Xiah knew how to write music, he doesn’t even play an instrument (except a tad of piano, but still). I put the cd’s away, stacked the papers in a neat pile, and then put them on top of his dresser. I then moved on to my room. I looked around, saw it was still clean from this morning, and smiled. I threw the dirty laundry I had into the laundry bag. Once it got full I usually send one of the kids off to the laundry mat. I yawned, and looked lovingly at my bed. But I couldn’t go to it yet.
I left the room and reentered the kitchen, the dishes were done so I wiped down the counter top. Xiah and Micky had gone back to his room, and Changmin was back on the computer. I walked over to him and watched the screen over his shoulder.
Iheartfood16: I no, hes soooo weird sometimes
Prettyinpink6: Did u c what he was wearing today?
Iheartfood16: u mean that pleid thing, yeah
“You spelt “plaid” wrong.” He jumped in his chair.
“Mom, don’t do that.”
“Who are you talking to?” He tried to cover the computer screen with his arms.
“No one.” Which meant he was talking to the girl who gave him her screen name... pretty in pink... that’s kind of vain, isn’t it?
“Well, tell “no one”, that you’ll “b r b”, because you need to go take your shower now.”
“Do you really need to remind him everyday?” Yunnie asked from the couch.
“You know he won’t do it unless someone tells him to.”
“True.”
“Hello, I’m still in the room.” Minnie said.
“And what room should you be in right now?” He lowered his head in defeat.
“All right, I’m going.” He got up from his chair and started walking towards the bathroom.
“Don’t forget to tell your girlfriend that you’ll be gone.”
“Oh yeah,” He ran back to the computer, but before his hands hit the keys he snapped his head over to me. “She’s not my girlfriend!” Yet.
Later that night I entered my room and was able to go to my bed. I laid across it, not even bothering to change into my pajamas. I heard Yunho enter behind me.
“Are you going to leave room for me?”
“Maybe.” I replied. He crawled up onto the bed, and next to me.
“You look tired.”
“I am tired.”
“Too tired to play?” I grinned.
“With you, never.” We kissed then. He started to roll on top of me. But I pushed him back. He stopped.
“What’s wrong?” He was so predictable.
“Nothing.” I knew what was coming next.
“Then why’d you stop me?”
“Because you're mine.”
“What does that have to...” I shut him up with my mouth, pushed him down, I sat myself on top of him, and lastly, brought the kiss to an end.
“And I want to be on top.” I said simply. And I always get what I want.
