Jack's the first to speak when she finally steps in, as usual.
"I was beginning to wonder if there was a big bad alien floating behind me I needed to worry about."
"What," she asks.
"The staring," he points out, finally looking at her with a tiny grin before going back to his newspaper.
"Oh. I was just going to-"
"You were going to leave, but you kept feeling a strange pull. The further you moved, the worse it became. Am I close?"
"Very much so."
He puts the newspaper down with a sigh, "I'm sorry, Gwen. It's my fault."
