falure.
an utter and total disaster.

a grand total of 12 people came.

so if you said you were going to come to the show, but didn't, I hate you right now. and we aren't on speaking terms until I get 5$ from you.
The minumum charge of $100 for rental of the flying monkey was fufilled to about 50$.
so that's 50$ that I owe the monkey. If that was it, ( Read more... )

you "had to" pay the artists $40? and you're upset about that? you think that pays all 3 of them what they deserve? that doesnt even pay their gas to fucking get there!
its their fucking job man! i wonder when people are gonna start realising that.
it pisses me off.

He is not the owner of the venue. He is also an artist who had to drive from out of town to get there. At least the other artists got $40 and are not something like $90 in the hole which has to come out of their shitty-paying day job. Where exactly do you think this money should come from and why are the other artists so much more entitled to be payed for their work?

if you wanna organise a party then you know there is a risk that you're gonna lose money... i'm part of an organisation, and we ALWAYS pay the artists what we promise them, not depending on the amount of people coming. if you cant handle losing money, then dont organise anything!

wow. for the past couple days i've heard him talk constantly about how bad he feels that the artists didn't make any money. he busted his ass doing promotional stuff and i was shocked that hardly anyone came, considering all the effort that was put into it. it's not like john expecting to make a single dime off of all this; he only wanted to break even.

also i will break your fucking nose if you want to call him a shithead again.

this awesome "breaking someone's nose over standard TCP/IP" technique.
Are you one of those badass karate people who can punch someone without their fist ever making contact?

What were you both basing these turnout expectations on? Just because you told a bunch of people about it, doesn't make a bunch of people motivated enough to check out a show mid-week full of music they've never heard.

There's next to NO scene for this music in the states even in the big cities, let alone random places in, say, Alabama. The smaller cities which have moderate turnouts (pittsburgh) only have that because people have been working their asses off for years in those cities, trying to promote this kind of music. If he likes this music and wants to start a "scene" in his area then that's rad, big up, but it is going to take a lengthy period of painful, expensive (for the promoter), poorly attended shows, before kids start catching on.

obviously i'm not really going to be breaking anyone's nose, over the internet or in real life. but jesus, i was kind of shocked that some random person had such a huge problem with a guy who plays music on his laptop being disappointed about a show going badly. i couldn't give a fuck less about scenes, venues, or whatever else is involved in this sort of thing. but i do give a fuck about people who i've never met/seen/heard of being insulting towards someone i do know. i mean, fine, maybe you are in this industry and know a good deal about it. maybe you could have offered some friendly advice? given tips on how to make things go well in the future? but instead you chose to go on the attack mode. if you really want to convey a valid point, i suggest being a little less insulting. makes everyone happier.
