falure.
an utter and total disaster.
a grand total of 12 people came.
so if you said you were going to come to the show, but didn't, I hate you right now. and we aren't on speaking terms until I get 5$ from you.
The minumum charge of $100 for rental of the flying monkey was fufilled to about 50$.
so that's 50$ that I owe the monkey. If that was it, then I wouldn't be abysmally upset about it, but I had to pay the artist's 40$ and god knows what I'll have to pay the guy who graciously let me use the PA. he's pissed at me right now because I didn't bring it back when I said I would.
Other than that the performance was stellar. I got a mini-disc recording of the whole thing, so that's pretty cool I got half of xanopticon's performance and I did not get the encore 15 min performance I did for some people who came late. I'd like to thank jon worthy and all his buddies for coming out. (4 people) then there was these 3 kids that came because I gave one of their friends a cd at the mall the other day, and they all got t-shirts and cds for being there from start to finish. thanks to jeff sharp for coming to watch me rock out. thanks to mark and that lady with the goofy prom dress and army helmet (leave a comment, because I want those pictures you took.)
thanks a whole whole lot to matt westmyer and gabriel moore.
oops battery dead, later

anyways, the reason why I'm complaining is less that no-body came, and more that the people who said that they were coming didn't.
As far as paying the artists goes, I asked them what they needed, and they told me 40 so that's what I paid them. I plan to pay the monkey the $50 I owe them tonight. I also bought like 40$ worth of stuff from them, and some other guys bought stuff, so they weren't totally gyped. I'll pay pal them some more cash later when I can afford it. They said that they didn't mind because they were going to drive through here anyways because they were going from atlanta to austin TX.
bitches, you don't know shit bout' huntsville. We got art, music and culture like "whoah"!
I don't care so much about money as I do care about the event failing. I mean, 20 people would have been cool. I felt bad for the artists more than anything. I think embarassment is the word. I would expect that type of turnout for a show for me and some other local yokels, but these guys do have some. I handed some people some flyers and they said. "whoah! how'd you get fanny and duranx3 to come!" and I was all like, "dude, I have no idea"
About the venue: typically a base audience of 20 people will come to any event (yes, even wonkey experimental electronic ones, I've seen it) because the facility is less like a venue and more like a community center of sorts.
And I figured they would come to this one. but they didn't, because as I now realize, most of those people just show up on weekend evenings to see what's up.
I spent time and effort and money on this too you know, I spent money on gas and flyers, and I was an artist as well, so don't I deserve to make money doing this as well? I spent more money puting it together and practicing and promoting then they spent driving here to do it.
BOTTOM LINE: I was angry and disappointed because I felt like I let everyone down. I mean, here are some artists I really like, and I told them I could get 30 -50 people to show up. and I got 12 so I felt like a liar. I should have paid them more and retrospect, and I'll send them more cash later because they deserve it.
day-YUM!!! niggas be H8'N'!!!!!!!!!
