Glad to hear that the self-nursing is helping your back. Continue on with the healing!

I seem to have hop-scotched over a stumbling block that was holding me up. It'll probably need some major renovation but at least there isn't a gaping hole there anymore. *G*

I successfully avoided looking at this entry last night because it was late and I knew you were talking about food. :) Today, tho, I'm glad it's here because I love bean soup. We're still hitting -100F+ so I won't be making soup anytime soon but I'm craving it.

What I'm really craving is... I bought a jar of Australian cream honey mixed with fig and it was superb. I'm goooing to learn how to make that if it kills me. I'm also shopping for a food dehydrator this weekend. Seems like it will come in handy as I am forever buying dried fruits and they're so freaking expensive!

Thank god we seem to be firmly into Fall. Not that we might not have some more warm days, but it's been in the 70s for that last couple of weeks. This summer with it's long ass heat wave and high humidity damn near killed me.

Do you have a favorite bean soup recipe or are you like me in that it changes a bit each time you make it depending on what you have on hand?

Those preserves sounds wonderful. Unfortunately it also sounds like high blood sugar in a jar. A few years ago I made something called Australian Spiced Fig Preserves. It was pretty damn tasty and easy to make.

Yeah, I'm usually good with whatever I have on hand. One of my faves is actually lentils made with ham hock and then served with fresh corn muffins. Starchy fatty carbs must be comfort food. I make it a couple of times a year in the winter. As our winter lasts about four hours, I don't get to make it much more than that.

Mmm, I do like lentils, too. And you can't get much better than a smoked ham hock ( ... )
