I have just returned from Sicily and am leaving for Egypt tomorrow.

It has been a crazy ride, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse; but I have not regretted being here for one moment.

I am in Rome. Got in yesterday morning and slept maybe 3 out of 35 hrs, then slept 11 this morning. Life is good.

People are stupid.

But the Saints are awesome. Man they owned the Cowboys. And Mike Karney, three touchdowns. Wow.

I confirmed on Friday. I'm going to Italy.

In the last few months I've applied to and been accepted into a study abroad program in Rome that is run by Duke University. I reread Lord of the Rings in the summer and have since been quite fascinated with Frodo and his transformation by the Ring. Tolkien's depiction of Frodo's inability to find solace in the Shire years after the destruction of the Ring is to me extraordinarily moving.
