overly-thinky thoughts about not so thinky things

Onemanga is being shut down. I could just...cry. There are quite a few titles I follow that haven't been released very far in English, and I especially like just going back and re-reading the manga on the site when I'm bored or feel like reading my favorite part. Fuck those greedy corporate douchebags right up the ear. It makes me want to never ( Read more... )

You know what sucks?

The implication is that Aang died at about 66. Bumi is healthy and spry at 112. Did someone push Aang in front of the bus?

Technically, Aang would have actually been 166. 8|a

But still, that is questionable. Maybe Appa sat on him?

The creators say that Aang dies so 'young' because he was stuck in the iceberg for a hundred years.

Ahhh, that makes sense actually. Health problems. Suckish.

Onemanga is being shut down? Well, shit.

As for Korra, I am really, unashamedly excited for it. I have full confidence in mike and Bryan and their ability to make an awesome product. Maybe it's naive of me, but I think they've proven that they can go against the established trend (strong female characters in a children's action series? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS) and do a hell of a job with it. A sequel should be a piece of cake.

My only worry is the possibility of them buckling to the network and changing their style and universe to suit the movie more, as well as the questionable quality of the new writing staff. Not sure how that's going to go. Mike and Bryan are great visionaries, but they can't control everything.

I guess that is a consideration, but Nick tried pretty hard to bury the last series and it still turned out great. I'm sure Bryke and anyone else on staff who really cared would fight for their project to remain true to their vision, at any rate.

Also, that icon is amazing.

Pst! Ivy!

http://stoptazmo.com/downloads/manga_series.php

This site has tons of manga. 8|b

ALSO. I am in the excited camp. This could possibly be because it feels like AGES since we've had some interesting Western Animation shows, and this looks so promising... /JOY

Also. I want to see Toph and Sokka as old people. They'd be so snarky.

Sokka: GET OFF OUR LAWN
Toph: /FLIPS LAWN

Awesome! Thanks for the link! And totally agreed about needing better Western cartoons.

D: onemanga is shutting down? My heart just broke a little. I've been reading so many mangas that aren't stateside yet! (and it's not like I just pirate them ;_; I buy them when they come out. Why am I being punished??)

Honestly, I think I'd be happier about the new Avatar thing if it didn't imply that Aang is dead considerably younger than previous Avatars. The steampunk thing is exciting though. I guess we'll just have to wait until it comes out (and it'll probably air on Nicktoons which means I'll NEVER see it)

I actually like Aang dying young as a result of his being stuck in the iceberg for 100 years- it's a move I hadn't expected from them. And maybe you'll see it on youtube/dailymotion?
