whenever anyone -- actor, director, random hollywood person, someone I knew, or whoever -- defended this man, I lost all respect for them, then and there. there is no excuse for what he did, but people jumped at the chance to provide him with one. it makes me almost physically ill.

*nods* I mean I get that he's an excellent director and I wish he wouldn't have done that because he can contribute a lot to society, but he deserves to be punished for what he did. I can understand that if it had been sex with a consenting minor that it wouldn't be violent rape, but that's what he plead to, and it's pretty obvious it was worse than that. This was not a case where it was ambiguous what happened.
